My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days in February. We travel a lot and we found the hotel to be exceptional value for money in Singapore. We never had any problems with room cleanliness or service. We chose an executive level room and the extra cost was well worth it for the room, internet access, free drinks (soft and alcoholic) plus breakfast and snacks in the evening. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was ideal for exploring Kampong Glam and Little India. The close proximity of the MRT station also made it easy to get to more distant locations. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The Golden Landmark has nice spacious rooms with nice views. The room we stayed in was a twin and there was lots of room for all our luggage. It has a desk, mini fridge, and chair. The bathroom was really dimly lit but this didn't prove to cause any problems at all. The location isn't particularly ideal for shopping on Orchard Rd unless you catch a cab or bus.

We stayed for a day in Golden Landmark hotel. We found the hotel worthy of the tariff we paid. The room was very spacious and well maintained. The view from the 18th floor was good. The club facility gave us access to coffee, breakfast and internet. As our flight was in the evening, we needed a late check out and the staff was very helpful. Overall a good experience!!!

“Great Value - Terrific Poolside - Would stay again!”

We booked 2 double rooms for an 8 night stay through Qantas booking website and got 8 nights for price of 7 (worked out to AUS $102 per night).

When we arrived at 4:30am the check staff member (Kok Wai I think his name was) was friendly and was expecting us from our early arrival flight. As we got an 8 night deal we were booked in from evening before and had advised of our next morring arrival.

The standard of the room was average as the bathroom and room furniture was tired and a little old, also housekeeping inconsistent. One room wasn't clean on day 1 and the other room was. Toiletries left in our room from day 3 but not in our friends room at all during stay.

Having said that the room was comfortable with the amenities was expected for the price. There were no stains or problems as experienced by other reviewers so we had no complaints. I didn't feel the need to rush out and buy cleaning products.

There is room refurbishment program happening at the momment so hopefully all rooms will be updated shortly.

We went to the 7-11 round the corner in NorthBridge road and purchase some shampoo (S$1.50 for 50ml) etc really cheaply so didn't mind lack of toiletries.

The best things about the hotel and reasons we would stay there again were:

* poolside amenities
Lovely new poolside cafe and bar, new timber decking and pool furniture. We spent most afternoons by the pool and it was lovely to cool down and enjoy a drink or light snack.

Breakfast at the poolside cafe was, in my opinion, the best available at hotel with an American Breakfast platter for 2 costing S$12.

Poolside food and drink prices were reasonable with a Tiger beer @ S$6, and reasonably priced mixed drinks and cocktails.

* location
The hotel entrance is located in Arab St but if you walk through the shopping complex you can exit direct to Victoria St or Northbridge Road at Ophir Road. There is also a connecting walkway from level 2 over Ophir Road to Raffles Hospital.

A short walk will bring you to Raffles Hotel, Bugis Street (Nightmarket, Shopping etc) Sim Lim Square or even to Little India. We walked back from the Mustafa Centre in Little India one night with no problems at all.

The Bugis MRT station entrance in right next to the Raffles Hospital so very convenient for travelling further afield.

* Food options nearby
There is a small food court across the road at Raffles Hospital also a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for breakfast.

A short walk (2 blocks) down Victoria St takes you to many food options in and around Bugis Street at Bugis Village or Bugis Junction.

Travel a few blocks further down Victoria Street and there's the Hawker centre next door to the Allson or Chimes at Bras Basah Road.

There are numerous options in and around Arab Street with the Blu Jaz Cafe in Bali Lane a must with great jazz music.

*Reception staff
The couple of inquiries was had with reception staff were handled efficiently and in a friendly manner. I was very impressed that when we had a question on day 3 Kok not only remembered our name but also our room number and went out of his way to find information for us on the internet and bring up a printout to our room even though he had already answered our question about an opening time for Changi Chapel.

Check out was quick and staff pre booked a van transport to the airport which was cheaper than the one we had got on arrival.

Overall I would recommend the Golden Landmark for budget travellers wanting a great location and easy access to everything.

We did not take up the option of upgrading to the executive floor @ S$30 per day but given our poolside spending it probably would have been worth it. Would consider doing that next time.

We would certainly stay there again.

PS If you stay here, you must wander across the road and check out the Parkview Square building and have a drink in the wine bar - unbelievable place!! (dress code applies in evenings)

I have stayed in this hotel several times, and it used to be an excellent value for money hotel. This year, I noticed the standards had dropped a bit, there were cobwebs on the ceilings, the bathroom tiles were chipped, the room amenities much less than what they used to be. However, it still is a good hotel for the money. You will probably not have any nasty surprises. But be careful of their online booking system. I booked for a bed & breakfast rate, but when the booking was done I re-checked with the hotel and they said breakfast was not included. Considering breakfast is SGD 15 pp, we decided to skip breakfast at the hotel and eat outside. There are plenty of eating options outside with a nice bakery/coffee shop at Raffles hospital complex just opposite, and Bugis Village is just a 5 min walk away. The location is great, central, and 5 min from Bugis MRT station.

The hotel is renovating some of the rooms, so if they can work their way back to their original standards, I will be staying in this hotel again. All in all, not a bad choice if you don't want to spend too much.
