“Overall the Hotel could not convince me”

Not being my number 1 choice for my stay in Singapore I ended up booking Furama since the other hotels I fancied were all fully booked at the time I made reservation.
The location is pretty good if you want to explore Chinatown. Chinatown MRT station is 2 minutes away and you can also walk to Clarke Quay or Boat Quay (loads of restaurants and bars there) in 5-10 minutes. Getting to Orchard Road or Little India you would have to take the very convenient and comfortable MRT though.
The check-in was quick and efficient. The room was a little small but OK. Much to my disappointment, the minibar was empty on arrival. When roomservice was in to bring some missing towels I asked about it and they said that is correct so and I should order any drink through roomservice. I tried it out later and they brought drinks within a few minutes, though after ordering a pitcher of ice water they just brought a small glass full.
The bathroom was fine, offering a shower cabin and a bathtub, well lit and clean. The room also had a safe and TV set with very limited selection of programs (like 8 or so, only some in english).
The breakfast we had was a little downturn. We came in late and they said they close breakfast in 30 minutes. After filling my plate with some egg and bacon, they started to clear the buffet already. When I wanted some fruit it was all gone already (10 minutes after entering the breakfast room). I asked for some fruit and they brought it in from the kitchen but I would have rather selected it myself.
There is a Computer in the lobby to access the internet at pretty high rates, dont know about WiFi access.
The hotel seems to be the crew Hotel for Cathay flight personnel since there were plenty of them at my checkout which is why it took so long to complete check out.
Would I go here again? Well, I guess I rather try out some other Hotel in the same price range.

“some good some bad”

Furama City Centre

Apr 19, 2008

we stayed at this hotel twice, on our way to australia from london and on our way back. i had booked an executive room and was meant to get 2 king beds. check in was good and our children were given some teddys, and the staff polite. our room was high up and we had a great view of the city. it did not have the 2 king beds as promised, but did have a separate living/kitchen area which was helpful with a baby. there was one king bed, a cot for the baby and a roll out bed for our 4 year old. this worked out okay but we shouldn't have been promised 2 king beds. i was too tired to complain. we ordered room service and were brought totally the wrong order, and then lied to about it. but again we were too tried and hungry to complain!
on our way home the stay was somewhat different. i had made exactly the same booking but was given a small room on a low floor with one double bed in and no room for any other bed. it was not an executive room and did not have the beds i'd booked. i went straight to reception and complained and saw a manager who then realised the mistake and rectified it. however the receptionist almost scowled at us because of HIS mistake!

“Excellent choice Great view of the Singapore Wheel”

Furama City Centre

Upgraded on arrival, Staff very freindly, lots of smiles. Room was great, very clean and well presented, lots of freebies, bathroom had bath and shower, the shower very powerful spray and they even provided robes and slippers . gym on small side but excellent equipment, Pool was nice but very cold.

The great thing about this hotel is the way you can move around the area outside the hotel and all undercover via walkways, so if it's raining, it wont spoil the day. links to shopping malls, restaurants and chinatowns facinating stores.

Would i go back - YES indeed.

“Great Hotel”

Furama City Centre

Mar 27, 2008

Great location, could not find anything to complain about, as advised we booked a room away from the lifts and a non-smoking floor! Chose not to have breakfast, ate out each day with plenty to choose from! Used taxi's as they were very cheap and honest! We booked through a travel agent and paid $690 for 5 nights for 3 adults in a deluxe room!

“LOVED the Furama”

Furama City Centre

5 of 5 stars
Columbia, Maryland

We had a wonderful stay at the Furama City Centre. The staff was most welcoming for our 1am arrival, and quickly checked us in to our room. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and had all the right amenities. This hotel had an amazing location, right in the heart of Chinatown. We were able to leave our room and hit the streets in just a few minutes. Our friend joined us on this trip and had a room with a view of the esplanade, which was better than our view of Chinatown, so I would request a high-floor esplanade view room. The hotel's skyline makes it easy to find from many points in the city, which is nice.

We booked our room on expedia.com, but we found out afterward that the Furama hotel chain has its own website where you can directly book rooms for the same rate and possibly secure free breakfast.

Give yourself extra time for checkout - checking out took longer than the average hotel, in my experience. Also, jumping in a cab from hotels in Singapore adds a few dollars surcharge to your fare - if you stay here, just cross the street and hail your own cab if you don't want to pay this surcharge. Definitely would stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone who needs a place to stay in Singapore.
