I read previous reviews and was looking for a nice break at the end of a work related trip. To unwind a bit, I booked a Club room and found that it was worth the extra money.

Room wise, the Fullerton has a better feel, though I could hardly argue with the view I was given, looking straight at the Merlion and surrounding area. For me at least, one of the best features in the room was the speaker system which could be connected to a variety of devices including ipods.

Whilst the rooms may be less so, the level of service is way better than that of the Fullerton. It is worth staying here for the staff alone, who are genuine in anticipating needs and of being genuinely helpful.

From the sorbets, water and ice cold fruit, poolside every half hour or so, to having drinks re-filled in the club floor area, the level of service and manners is akin to travelling first class on an Asian airline. I can't give a better accolade than that.

Recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for 4 days on the return journey from the UK. We arrived early (9 am) and our room was not ready but the hotel staff were excellent. As it was going to be 4 hours before we could get into our room we were upgraded to a suite with views overlooking the Marina. The spa and pool facilities were excellent as was the morning breakfast buffet . The hotel was spotless and the service exceptional, everyone made you feel very special. It is also within walking distance to the restaurants and night life of Boat and Clarke Quays and Orchard Road for shopping. Having travelled all over the world and stayed in some pretty top notch hotels (including Singapore previously on many occasions) this is certainly one of the best for its general all round appeal. We will definitely stay on our return again in a few months.

We stayed for 2 nights in February. We had a great stay, upon check in we asked for a late check out, and were offered an upgrade to The Oriental Club package, which gave us a late check out and loads of extras - basically free food and drink all day in the Club Lounge. We signed up for that, and reaped the benefits.

It was great to have champagne breakfast in the lounge, then return for afternoon tea and take a break from the humidity of Singapore. We then returned for pre-dinner cocktails which started the evening off brilliantly!

The room was spacious, and well fitted. The room had recently been refurbished so everything was nice and new.

The location of the hotel was excellent - it joined 3 shopping centres and was within walking distance to most of the key sights. We took cabs around Singapore to get to the Night Safari and other places and found the rates to be very reasonable.

The choice of restaurants within the hotel was good, although not so good if you are a vegetarian. We found this to be the same outside of the hotel as well, but managed to find the odd meal that the staff could tweak, or that was already veggie friendly.

The hotel provided a much needed oasis of calm and cool after the heat and craziness of the shopping centres in Singapore. We have recommended it already to friends and family!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights en route to Shanghai and 5 nights on the way home to Sydney. We have been to Singapore many times and have stayed at most major hotels represented.
We always book for the Club floor (this is important) as it is a home away from home. The Club Lounge has champagne breakfast, unlimited soft drinks and tea and coffee during the day in addition to cocktails and canapes at night. It is also a quiet haven after shopping/sightseeing in the city.
The accommodation (approx. 41 sq. metres) is first rate and the attention to detail is outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are very attentive when required.
The hotel is within walking distance from the subway which is most convenient if not using taxis.
We have stayed at this hotel many times and rate it 1st or 2nd in Singapore.
