“excellent experience, great location, great confort”

We booked a King Premier room for our 4 night stay in Singapore over the long week end of May 1st.
First of all, the location of the hotel is fantastic. It is very central but very quiet too.
The room was really GREAT, big and very confy. We were with our 2 kids and we enjoyed the 52m2. The bed was huge and so confortable.
The service was very good.
The breakfast is okay, a bit expensive for what you can get though.
There is some renovation works in the hotel but it really didn't affect us at all.
The pool area is quite small but there weren't so many people so it was perfect for us.

We would definitively go back there if we're in Singapore.
It's an excellent choice for a family too.

“Good hotel and location, would stay again”

This was our first trip to Singapore and the reviews of the IC were very useful and as usual Tripadvisor didn’t fail. The taxi ride from Changi Airport to IC was very short at around 15 mins and was a welcome relief after a long plane journey. The check-in process was not very smooth as it appeared I had made a mistake with my booking. I found the check-in staff very unhelpful but luckily the Guest Relations Manager snatched my booking papers from the check-in staff and sat my wife and I down to speed up the process. I was relieved at how quickly the manager organised our check-in and upgraded us to a Shophouse room even though we had booked an ordinary room using Priority Points.

The Shophouse rooms were in a separate more private part of the hotel. The room was very nicely decorated and had the old colonial feel about them. There wasn’t much of a view from the room but it was very helpful to be only one floor up and there is a discreet staircase near the lobby bar which was far easier to use then the lifts and made us feel more at home. The room had a flat panel TV, wooden floors and was spacious for a city hotel room. The bathroom was quite large and had a separate shower unit. The room came with the usual free water, bathrobes, slippers and a safe.

The IC is more of a business focused hotel rather then leisure which was apparent from the other hotel guests but we didn’t feel unwelcome in our shorts and t-shirts.

The location of the hotel was fantastic as you are in the middle of Bugis Junction. The MRT (subway) was 3 mins walk and is very handy to get to all parts of Singapore. There are plenty of taxi’s about (they always use their meter and work out very cheap). There is a shopping complex next door to the hotel which came in handy for breakfast and late night shopping. There is also a market called Bugis Street market and it is the biggest market in Singapore but it is very touristy. We found the 7-11 nearby handy for late night snacks and drinks. The Raffles hotel is a 10 min walk away and we enjoyed our slings in the Long Bar.

Singapore is so clean, friendly and you are made to feel very safe. We didn’t hesitate walking around at 3am which you can’t do in most Asian cities.

I would recommend the following…

Day Time

River cruise
Orchard road shopping
Sentosa island
Little India (mainly for the food)
Raffles Hotel (Long Bar)

Night Time

Night Safari
Clarke Quay
Chinatown
Boat Quay

As you would expect from an Intercontinental, the hotel is immaculate, well located and the staff are extremely helpful. I find no fault with anything in that regard - however in direct contravention of at least 2 of its own green policies, the hotel serves Shark Fin Soup in one of its restaurants. I left a letter for the manager expressing my distress at this, and have heard nothing back - I would expect better from them. I won't stay here again unless this item is removed from the menu.

I red reviews about the hotel before I made reseravation and was little bit confused with some comments about arrogant staff. It was my only concern.
In fact I was absoluttely pleased with hotel itself and hotel staff. I stayed in Club room and did not regret it. I had a lot of personal attention and it was not annoing at all. Breackfast was really good. I did not use the hotel restorante every day as in Bugis ares you will find a lot of options to have a meal.
Room was clean, business center was exellent.
I would recomend every buciness traveler to use the hotel.
I really like the area - Bugis. You can not beat it!

We stayed six nights at the Intercontinental from March 14 to March 20, 2008. It was our first trip to Singapore on a package deal to Singapore and Hong Kong.
The hotel is lovely - truly a first class experience. The staff was bright, experienced and helpful. Our room was large and comfortable with luxurious towels, linen and dressing gowns. The breakfast buffet was a delight with a choice of freshly cooked eggs, sausages and bacon, fresh fruit and juices and much more.
The staff arranged our visit to the zoo - a must see in Singapore - are were very helpful in suggesting things to see and do.
We highly recommend the Intercontinental and it will be our choice on our next trip to Singapore.
