Budget hotels in Hong Kong can be a varied lot. The Cosmic Guest House on the 12th storey of the Mirador Mansion is typical HK budget guesthouse in an amazingly convenient location positioned right above the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and on Nathan Road. We reserved the hotel in advance through Lonely Planet’s Haystack booking engine at a rate of $33USD per night.

Upon arriving we were shown to our room that was a super tiny double with no windows next to the elevator. This wasn’t acceptable and we were going to go elsewhere but they offered us a corner room (which was considered a quad but only had two full sized beds in it) for $40USD that we accepted. The room was worn but spotlessly clean with a small TV, A/C, and WiFi access ($5USD for 10 hours) The security was great with a magnetically locked gate providing access to the hallway with ours and few other Cosmic Guest House rooms.

Luxurious or dripping with character it is definitely not, but if all you need is secure and clean accommodation in a great location, for this low of a price you would be hard pressed to find a better deal in pricy Hong Kong. If you decide to stay here though, ask to see multiple rooms before taking one.
