I chose to stay at this hotel due to the positive TripAdvisor reviews. The hotel lived up to expectations. It was clean, stylish, well located near the airport (great for early flights) and just steps away from the rail station that takes you downtown in 20 minutes. To get to the rail station you exit the hotel into the Citygate Outlet Mall (major retailers have shops here) and take the escalator down to the bottom floor. Easy!
My only gripe was the hotel shuttle bus. Figuring out how to catch it from the airport was confusing. At the airport there's a hotel shuttle desk, but they don't operate the Novotel Citygate shuttle so they tell you to watch the door where the Novotel shuttle regularly stops. The problem is the shuttle doesn't necessarily use that stop and there's no announcement made when it arrives. The buses all look the same so it is hard to tell which one is the Novotel bus (even though it say Novotel across the side of the bus) from inside the terminal. This mean you have to keep jumping up and running outside to get a closer look. I don't understand is why the shuttle driver doesn't walk inside and announce the shuttle's arrival or hold up a sign! Seems simple enough to me. I took the shuttle 3 times and each time I felt like I'd only caught it by accident.
Other than the shuttle the hotel was great. I would stay again and recommend it to a friend.
