Great location, helpful staff.

Smooth check-in as you'd expect from a hotel of this quality. Room was excellent, great bathroom and amenities. Everything that you could think of supplied for the room.

Cleanliness excellent, servicing of the room prompt and proper. Room service was very good.

Can't fault a thing.

“One of the best in HK”

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

5 of 5 stars

Comparison: Besides the MO Landmark, I also stayed at the Four Seasons and the Island Shangri-La in the past. Rooms at MO Landmark are the most spacious and the services are the most personable. Four Seasons, situated at the waterfront, has the best harbor view and located next to the expensive IFC shopping mall and is above the airport express train. IFC mall is great for window shopping but is so overpriced; for example, clothes in the Brooks Brothers cost three times more than the US’s. The most impressive about the Island Shangri-La is the 17-story atrium featuring the world’s largest 16-story high Chinese silk painting. Although the MO Landmark and FS are both top-notched hotels and MO’s rooms and services are slightly better, I prefer the FS purely for its harbor view.

Room: We stayed at the signature L600 Deluxe Room. The bathroom is spacious with a uniquely designed round tub, two sinks, and generous counter space. The room has three TVs, two 42” flat panel TVs in the living room and the bedroom and a small one in the bathroom. The only downside is that the room looked out to other office buildings across the street. The entire hotel has no rooms with a decent view.

Location: The hotel is located in the business district with some shopping nearby. Lan Kwai Fong (clubs/bars area) is 5 minute away. Next to a MTR (subway) station and 5 minutes walk to the Airport Express train station.

Misc: The breakfast at the MO bar is very good. The spa’s facility is amazing with various cool shower/steam rooms and pools. You don’t have to get a treatment to enjoy the facility; it’s open to all hotel guests. The gym is nicely equipped so I recommend go to the spa for a shower after a morning work-out. Hotel also provides free internet at the library and the front desk provided laptop for in-room use.

Conclusion: We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. But view is important to me. The other MO that has the harbor view is <10 minutes away and I’ll try it in my next trip.

“Urban Hotel Excellence”

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

5 of 5 stars

This is the model of what a luxury urban hotel should be. From the rooms, replete with sophisticated technology, marble-clad bathrooms and sleek furnishings, to the spa, which was large, comprehensive and soothing, this hotel offers its guests nearly every service imaginable. And they do it well, and in great style at that.

The Landmark is located, as the name suggests, in the Landmark shopping mall, which is smack dab in the center of Central. You can walk everywhere from this hotel--Soho, the Western District, Victoria Peak, the Airport Express and the Star Ferry are all basically a 10 minute walk. The hotel is located atop the Central MTR station and taxis, if you desire, are outside the front door.

The rooms provide a true sanctuary from Hong Kong--they are extremely quiet, spacious and attractive. The bathroom in our L450 Superior room had an hourglass soaking tub, a large rainfall walk-in shower, two sinks and a separate toilet area. Unlike many hotels, the housekeeping is seamless and very generous with the Aromatherapy Associates toiletries.

We used the spa, and our services were top notch, though some of the heat experience "stations" were a bit gimmicky. All in all, though, the spa is a great experience, and compared to US prices, a great deal.

We ate breakfast in Amber, and it was well presented and delicious--the same goes for room service.

Perhaps the only flaw in this hotel is the concierge, which in general, directed us only on well trodden paths rather than to more local haunts. The pool, though beautiful, lacks sufficient seating/lounging areas.

All in all, this is what every urban luxury hotel should strive to emulate.

“Fantastic Hotel, Fantastic staff, Fantastic location”

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

This hotel is quite simply superb, after staying in the Peninsula Hong Kong for 2 nights, we hated it so much that we checked out and checked into The Landmark mandarin Oriental.
The staff in this hotel are incredibly efficient, with a special mention to Jason on reception. They can’t do enough for you. The concierge are thorough and really helpful offering MO guide books. The location is excellent and is in the same block as all the fabulous shops and a really great café/restaurant which is excellent for breakfast which I believe is called Café Landmark on level 1F
We stayed in a 900 sq ft suite which was truly luxurious. Walk in wardrobes, circular bath tub with TV and double basins, excellent amenity kit including loofah, scissors, brush etc… 2 plasmas, guest WC, hall, dining room and a sumptuous bed. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very MO in appearance.
The downside was the view, basically there wasn’t one but a trip to the harbour front is not far away and you can get to the star ferry from the hotel without going outside, simply walking through one dept store, through a shopping centre, through and office block, on a covered walkway etc …
The bar in the hotel is very hip, excellent service and reasonable prices; we didn’t eat in the hotel apart from breakfast in the room one morning. This was presented beautifully with flowers and table cloths laid. It was however quite expensive so I would suggest going out for it.
We used the spa quite a bit and the treatments were very good, the spa also has a plunge pool, steam room, sauna, Tiffany aftershave in the changing rooms and various types of showers which can spray you with mint scented water – delicious! Unfortunately the pool was out of use for the duration of our stay, however, we were offered the use of the pool at their other hotel in Hong Kong - The Mandarin Oriental. In the lobby of the spa they also have computers which offer free internet and printing.
All in all absolutely fantastic, they really know what service is all about and offer those extra little touches which really make it. What I really look for in a hotel is beautiful décor, excellent service, good food and bar and being well positioned – This hotel offered all of these things. I would stay in the hotel again if I was to visit Hong Kong in the future and would definitely recommend it.
We made use of the Mercedes Airport transfer on the way back and this was really great, when we arrived at the airport there was a lady waiting outside for us who took all of our luggage, took care of everything at check-in and then after security had a buggy waiting to take us to the Virgin Clubhouse – faultless.

“Mixed Feelings.....”

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

Jan 24, 2008
2/7 found this review helpful

A mixed bag of feelings after staying at this hotel.....

pro

- nice rooms and bathrooms as mentioned, though for that
price, they could have installed jacuzzi baths

- superb martinis at MO Bar

- beautiful (but very pricy) spa, we had the 4 hours couples
treatment

- great location

con

- they accidentally rang the fire alarm , jolting us out of bed at
6 am and into the hallway, where some staff then came runnnig
"false alarm" ... something that should not happen at a 5 star
property such like this, and the morning / night were ruined

- needed to ask for compensation for the above, i.o. the hotel
offering it itself

- at breakast at Amber on the first day, we were told our room
rate only included the continental breakfast, anything else we
would have to pay extra (when paying 5000 HKD for a room,
I would usually think it does not matter if I chose the 200, 250
or 280 HKD Breakfast). The 2nd day, we were told everything
was included ... confusing

Anyway, that fire alarm thingy really set me and my wife off, so we probably wont be staying at MO again.............
