FYI, I used to live on the Mainland but commuted every WE to HK so I know the place a little. I recently came back for a 10-night holiday.
To book the Cosmopolitan, I first checked the cheapest prices available at hotels.com and then sent an email to the hotel manager. After short negociations, she accepted to upgrade me to a Deluxe CWB view double room for the price of a standard room (around 60euros/night for 10 nights).
I had read a lot of reviews and knew that standard and superior rooms neither offer nice views nor are well renovated. I was absolutely not disappointed by my Deluxe room, quite big, nicely and modernly decorated, very clean and quiet, real king size bed. The view from the 20th floor was astonishing on Causeway Bay area (see pictures). At the end of my stay, I had the opportunity to stay for two nights in a Deluxe Race Course view room and the panorama was all the more impressive.
The staff has always been very friendly to me and I've also enjoyed the free high speed Wifi connection from the hotel's lobby.
MTR (Times Square shopping area) is about 10min walk from the hotel, you can take the tram just opposite the main road in font of the hotel, and the ferry to Kowloon side is 20min walk.
Bus 6x to the main beaches (Repulse Bay) and the Peak is available in front of the hotel.
Causeway Bay is The place for shopping, a mix between international and local brands, malls and tiny shops, and many restaurants with food from all over the world.
I'll definitely go back if I get the opportunity.
