“Great Value Hotel - Impressive View”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

Jun 7, 2007

FYI, I used to live on the Mainland but commuted every WE to HK so I know the place a little. I recently came back for a 10-night holiday.
To book the Cosmopolitan, I first checked the cheapest prices available at hotels.com and then sent an email to the hotel manager. After short negociations, she accepted to upgrade me to a Deluxe CWB view double room for the price of a standard room (around 60euros/night for 10 nights).
I had read a lot of reviews and knew that standard and superior rooms neither offer nice views nor are well renovated. I was absolutely not disappointed by my Deluxe room, quite big, nicely and modernly decorated, very clean and quiet, real king size bed. The view from the 20th floor was astonishing on Causeway Bay area (see pictures). At the end of my stay, I had the opportunity to stay for two nights in a Deluxe Race Course view room and the panorama was all the more impressive.
The staff has always been very friendly to me and I've also enjoyed the free high speed Wifi connection from the hotel's lobby.
MTR (Times Square shopping area) is about 10min walk from the hotel, you can take the tram just opposite the main road in font of the hotel, and the ferry to Kowloon side is 20min walk.
Bus 6x to the main beaches (Repulse Bay) and the Peak is available in front of the hotel.
Causeway Bay is The place for shopping, a mix between international and local brands, malls and tiny shops, and many restaurants with food from all over the world.
I'll definitely go back if I get the opportunity.

“Small room with frosted windows and expensive extras”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

We stayed 3 nights in May /07 and got this hotel through Priceline. We were satisfied with the price at $80 US per night. However, we requested a non smoking room on a upper floor, there was non available so they put us in a smoking room with frosted windows This room was small and not having a window to look out felt a bit cloister phobic for us.
We disagree with some of the people that wrote in saying the hotel location is not good location. (We had an advantage though because my wife lived in Hong Kong for 5 years so she knows her way around). We actually found this hotel is in a very good location for getting to a lot of tourist spots in Hong Kong. We took advantage of the free shuttle bus service the hotel offers but also took the MTR, buses, and trams all over Hong Kong.
Tip#1 - The hotel staff don’t tell you this because I think they want you to book the tours with them but there is a bus stop just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel where the big double decker buses stop on there way to the Peak, Repulse bay and Stanley Market etc. These are very inexpensive and easy to use with an octopus card..
Tip#2- Do not make phone calls from your room – they charge 8 HKD per call for local calls - walk to the 7-Eleven 5 minutes away to call for 1 HKD.
Tip#3- The restaurant and laundry service in this hotel is very expensive - cheaper laundry service is available close to the 7-Eleven and there is lots of other restaurants around.

“Overpriced, but location good!”

We stayed at this property as part of a flight package deal. It was an expensive package and we were expecting a 4 star hotel (as advertised). The room was really old and smelled terrible and fixtures and fittings in need of refurbishment. Restaurant was quite nice, although we did only have one breakfast there. Within walking distance of Times Square and convenient for shopping and public transport. Efficient reception staff. I think there would be better deals out there for the money!

“Good Place to Stay in Hong Kong Island”

I was in Hong Kong for the first time on a business trip. This place is a very nice place to stay . They have nice rooms with City View.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Hotel has Free Wi-Fi access at the lobby and Internet at rooms. There is a Free shuttle bus service, which I used to go around the Hong Kong Island and to get into stations. There was a spa next to the hotel and its a great way relax when you are on a tiring business trip. I recommend this place to anyone who is planing a trip to Hong Kong.

“Excellent "Budget Hotel"”

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong

4 of 5 stars

I read the reviews for this hotel on this site before I left the UK on business to HK and I arrived at the hotel with some trepidation, I had been booked into this hotel by my client and had a Deluxe room overlooking the race course. There was no bath but then I knew that because I looked at the room plan on the hotel website before I left so no surprises there, I found all of the staff to be very helpful & polite.

The hotel is situated on a busy junction in Wan Chai opposite the Hong Kong Jockey Club, finding a taxi directly outside the hotel is not easy but if you cross over the road it is not a problem, you can walk to Times Square in a little over 5 mins and Pacific Place (Admiralty) can be walked in about 15 - 20 mins a taxi is about $30 HK, the hotel offer a FREE shuttle bus to and from the airport express station which is located in central HK under the IFC and the also provide a FREE shuttle bus to Times Square, Wan Chai and the Convention centre.

The room was clean the bed was huge and I have no complaints about the place.
