“Bus up & Tram back...the only way to go.”

What a pleasant suprise...actually having a full size shopping centre at the peak, so the missus can continue on her merry way with the credit cards. However, this is a must-do in HK, and rather than tram it to the peak, during peak hour/season, a bus does the job nicely, and you can take your time selecting a tram going back down. Either way the scenery is magnificent, and well worth the effort. Everyone in the world is familiar with the views looking down from the peak, but a picture can't do the view justice. We caught a double decker (top deck, because someone (our 8 YO) insisted)..don't sit on the left-hand side if you have the faintest degree of vertigo...and/or have had a heavy brekkie....but when we got to the top, the trams/crowds had'nt started arriving as yet..about 08:00 in the morning. Spent a full day up there, totally awed by the spectacle, but dissillusioned about having to clean up after Mum (who sat on the left...you guessed it)...a few beers (for me), and back down via the tram. An excellent day, and even Mum was speechless for a change. Bonus.

“Get a seat on the right hand side of the tram!”

It's a phenonmenal view from the top, but it's also a spectacular tram ride up, as you wind up the steep mountainside, catching glimpses onto high-rise penthouse gardens along the way. Make sure to sit on the right hand side of the tram car on the way up if you can, as all the views are to the right.

No coffee available up at the top early in the morning, so gets yours before you get on the tram if you need caffeine early in the morning!

“A must see at night!”

When we arrived in HK, grabbed a cab to our hotel, the only thing our taxi driver recommended to us was to see the Peak and we did (at night). WOW!

We were there when they had the grand opening of the new viewing deck with new shops and restaurants. We didn't get a chance to actually get on the deck (invitation only), but we'll be sure to see it the next time we're in HK.

The tram ride was great, it was a little weird to see everything at an angle, but pretty neat experience. The tram takes the Octopus Card, it's good for almost all public transportation (i.e. MTR, Train, Bus, Ferries, Tram and you can even cash out after your trip minus a $7 processing fee).

There are plenty of shops and restaurants for a quick snack (fast food, coffee shops, etc.) as well as nice restaurants for a quiet meal. We had dinner at one of the restaurants (Cafe Deco). Food was okay, price was average, not low nor too high. Depends what you order, plenty of variety. Lots of new restaurants with a nice views, do some research and make reservations if you want a nice view.

The Peak is great for kids too, plenty of activities and play area. Clean and fun.

Amazing..try go up on the tram, early evening before it gets dark then you can see all the lights coming on below you, bit by bit the skyline lights up spectacularly...i will never forget it even though it was cold and stormy! it looked so beautiful and magical and was well worth getting cold for a couple of hours!

Hong Kong’s night view is undeniably spectacular. Stunning. It is a must-see if you go to Hong Kong. The many routes at the peak gives you magnificent views of the entire metropolis and of the countryside. The night view is particularly magnificent. It is the most beautiful night city skyline’s in the world. If you had to choose- I’d go at night on a clear day.
