What a pleasant suprise...actually having a full size shopping centre at the peak, so the missus can continue on her merry way with the credit cards. However, this is a must-do in HK, and rather than tram it to the peak, during peak hour/season, a bus does the job nicely, and you can take your time selecting a tram going back down. Either way the scenery is magnificent, and well worth the effort. Everyone in the world is familiar with the views looking down from the peak, but a picture can't do the view justice. We caught a double decker (top deck, because someone (our 8 YO) insisted)..don't sit on the left-hand side if you have the faintest degree of vertigo...and/or have had a heavy brekkie....but when we got to the top, the trams/crowds had'nt started arriving as yet..about 08:00 in the morning. Spent a full day up there, totally awed by the spectacle, but dissillusioned about having to clean up after Mum (who sat on the left...you guessed it)...a few beers (for me), and back down via the tram. An excellent day, and even Mum was speechless for a change. Bonus.
