“BETTER than expected...!”

Metropark Hotel Kowloon

my friend and I stayed here for 9 nights after booking through a student based travel agency. for the price we paid, we really wern't sure wat to expect, and the mixed reviews on the site didnt help either.

we were both surprised by the hotel, the interior, the helpful staff, and our room, as well as the bathroom and overall cleanliness.

the hotel's location is perfect, as it isn't on nathan road, but only a 10 minute walk. the hotel offers a first come first served shuttle bus every 3omins, which drops you off outside one of the mtr entrances (which you could walk to in 10minutes) and about a 10 minute walk from the avenue of the stars, and the pier, where you get the boat over to causeway bay.

the hotel has switches for "do no disturb" to put on at night, and a "make our room" switch for when we went out. the hotel offers free wifi and an ethernet cable is provided in every room in the pull out drawer underneath the mirror. if you havent got your laptop or wifi device with you, the hotel will offer 15 minutes of internet usage for $15 and then a dollar per minute thereafter. however, it is fair to say that the staff arent overly picky and we only ever paid $15 despite using the internet foralmost 30-40 minutes at a time.

our room on the 6th floor did not have a safe, which was slighlty inconvenient but it really wasn't that big of a problem. there is a small closet with about 10 or so hangers provided along with the usual slippers and cleaning mits etc. the fridge/minibar is for personal use also, so we just used to put drinking water and milk from the welcome opposite or the 7eleven just on the corner.

(just a quick heads up, you need to put youre used towels in the bath tub if you need them replacing with fresh ones)

the top floor is dedicated to a small gym (two treadmills and a cross trainer and some freeweights) and the best bit of all, the nintendo wii, WITH TWO CONTROLLERS :) i was quie surprised to see no one hogging the wii although May is supposed to be a quiet time according to the locals. either way we wernt complaining. the pool is also alot bgger than we thought, it is true that you can do lengths.

overall, the hotel is deffinitley worth staying in and i would recommend it to sudents aswell as couples, who we saw a lot of whilst hanging out near the roof top pool. planning on going back in september and i have no reason not to want to stay here again

“Great Hotel, great service”

Just back from Metropark Kowloon. We had a room on the club floors which meant we had a few extras included in the price.
These included free drinks in the Club lounge, a selection of hot and cold snacks ( sandwiches, samosas, spring rolls, cakes, nuts), free use of the internet, complimentary newspaper. The location was a 10 minute walk from the MTR but there was also a free shuttle bus to Mong Kok station and down to Tsim Sha Tsui. Chocolates and a weather forecast for the next day left by your bedside. Given that the cost was extremely reasonable compared to other hotels I was very impressed with the service. The room was a decent size, large flat screen TV with some English channels.

Some great local eateries where we could not believe the prices. Range of dishes with rice and noodles and a few beers bill for four people around £15. To the dismay of two of our party there were no tablecloths or wine but they made up for this in other restaurants before we came home.

Hong Kong brilliant, Metropark, Kowloon , Great.

Location: a bit of distance to the nearest MTR station, around 10-15 minutes walk, in summer it would be too much for me.

Clean: the hall ways to the rooms were dirty and smelly and you would give a double digit number to the age of the walls and carpits, on the other hand the rooms are much more taken care of, no smell, clean bed sheets, good bathroom.

size of room: the smallest i ever experianced in HK

over all, it did it for me since i was only there for 6 hour sleep, but for sure i will not go there if i am staying in HK for more than 1 day.

“Poor atitude of duty manager”

Metropark Hotel Kowloon

London, United Kingdom

Stayed there for two separate 4 night periods. Had booked my stay via their own company email months ago. We had no problems with first stay period, however on return from trip to Bangkok, found our triple occupancy room had been given away to others by duty manager "Eric", who himself needs a refresher course in customer service. Felt his atitude was very poor. His overiding aim was to do his job fast but with no consideration for customers. Finally allocated a room with 2 beds and had to wait 20 minutes for a rollaway bed. This arrived but the mattress was so uncomfortable that it needed to be changed. The next rollaway had a blood stained mattress protector which if we hadn't complained, they would have laid sheets on and tried to pass its stain away. Management tried to pass over this problem by giving us free breakfast, however this was not worth the money. By enlarge the worst food I've seen for a long time.

The room was much smaller than that of first stay and not worth the money especially for the money I paid expecting a slightly bigger room which we needed as it was for 3 adults.

The hotel itself is about 15 minutes walk from mongkok, the shuttle was very punctual and takes about 45min cycle through hotel, mongkok , tsim tsai tsui and then hotel. The airport express shuttle "K6" was a excellent way to get to the hotel and airport and the stop is right outside the hotel. Allowed us to check in at Kowloon airport express station and reduce lugging luggage ourselves to the airport.

Hong Kong is full of great places to visit and great food, so forget paying for breakfast, take the shuttle to mongkok where food is cheaper, tastier and very varied.

“no problems whatsoever”

We had none of the problems experienced elsewhere. The staff were fine - nothing was a problem. On one part of our journey we arrived early in the morning. At other hotels we may well have been told to push off until the afternoon but here the room was ready after just an hour. The free shuttle bus to the harbour area was very good and regular. The pool on the roof is well worth a visit. The hotel is on a busy main road (Waterloo Road) in mid-Kowloon but we found this to be an advantage, because we found some excellent eateries nearby that obviously aren't visited by many tourists. Really friendly people, though. And infinitely cheaper than eating at the hotel. The hotel bar was OK, but expensive, and a bit desperate, with fashion TV playing endlessly, and full of bored-looking tourists.
No problems with noise, even though our room faced onto the busy street.
