Let me start (always an ominous start) by saying we had stayed at the Royal Garden about 6 times in the 1980's and 3 times in the 1990's.
It was fine, good even. Nothing wrong with it at all. it had all the same features that had made us return to it again and again in the past. Great service, lovely views, awesome atrium.
Its in a great position. About 10 slow minutes walk from Nathan RD, but so close to the harbour and right next to the hong kong history and science museums, it is in a great position.
HOWEVER, the rooms were not very large and unlike all the other hotels we visited on the Asian trip, we were not offered to upgrade (which we would pay for... not for free). The breakfast buffet which we took up on one day was the poorest on offer during our stay in Asia and certainly wasnt worth the 200HKD we paid for it .
If you are staying at the RG, may we suggest the restaurant called sticky fingers or the deli france across the road.they werent 10/10 but they were better than the RG in value for money.
We were only disappointed because in the 80's and 90's this hotel was at the top of tree. there was none better. They did nothing wrong, they were simply not at the same standard that they were then.
