Recently arrrived back from a weeks stay at the IC Grand Stanford, and was more than pleased with our stay. We searched and read many reviews on trip advisor before settling upon this hotel.
It is in a ideal location the rapid ferry to the habour is bang outside, few minutes walk down the road is the tube station.
It is located away from the hussle and bussle where the other IC hotel is located, it still isnt cheap this hotel, but I would deff recomend this over the other. The rooms are styled to me more traditional than modern, the bathroom was also excellent. The maids can not so enough for you and still do your room if you said you were fine!!
We were room only which was fine, as there is a starbucks , Deli france and a diner called "Charlie Browns" which is 2mins away and you can get whatever you want from there. I would recomend if you are planning a day around the pool to nip to charlie browns for dinner alot cheaper than the hotel and they do really good sandwiches.
The pool is very nice and has plenty of very comfortable sun beds, you can get free water from the cooler at the entrance to the gym and you take out to the pool, also free fruit is avalible which was a nice touch. The staff also bring you free ice water every so often whilst you sun bathing. One thing I would say is dnt order fresh fruit jucie around the pool one orange juice cost me £6...
Hong Kong - you could do it in less days but you would be very rushed. Alot of the shopping malls have very exclusive brands in, so unless you are wanting Prada etc I would recomend just going to the Harbour city mall in kowloon.
Resturants - The Gaylord indian resturant is a must very cheap and excellent food, we ate there twice. Also the Aku I think it was called a Japanse resturant just down from the hotel in the TST mall.
The Peak is worth a visit on the Island, if you go there have a meal in the italian resturant which has fairy lights outside, very nice surroundings and good prices.
The big budda is a must - you can arrange this yourself, get the tube to tung chung I think it was. (its the last stop anyway) from Kowloon and then get the cable car if its working or the coach which is only 30hkd and take about 50mins. I wouldnt recomend the veggie lunch, even though the setting is good and you eat with the monks, its very very traditional chinese food.
The markets are a must to pick up a bargin or two... you will get asked by every stall you pass to buy, but just say no and walk on and they are fine. I would say knock off 50% what they offer you, unless it is artwork or something where you can see alot of time has gone into it.
