The Guangdong Hotel is a business class hotel with bland decoration but with a comfortable environment. The rooms were a good size but we struggled fitting in two large rucksacks so they wouldn’t get in the way. The bed was very, very hard but we were used to fairly hard beds so we were OK. A TV is in the room with many channels with only some in English but a desk and power points are provided for use, with good lighting throughout the room. The hotel is very clean with little clutter.

The bathroom was kitted out well with good complimentary gifts including a comb, slippers and a razor. The bath is quite small but the shower was very good and the bathroom was clean. The room also has a safe and a LAN internet connection with a good speed.

The service was very good and all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

For:
- Everything worked and was in good condition
- The service was excellent
- Access to ADSL internet in room for small fee (GBP8 for 24 hrs)
- Good location right in Tsim Sha Tsui for tourist attractions a
- MTR is a minute away
- We got a business paper delivered each morning even though we hadn’t asked for one.
- The bathroom has a heated mirror for your convenience.

Against:
- Those used to quite soft beds would struggle.
- Even when the air condiditoning was off, cold air was being pumped into the room for circulation around the building making the room quite clean
- The breakfast isn’t very good (and not included in the rate) but there are a variety of other places to go, including a Delifrance on the corner of Prat Avenue and Chatham Road South.

We booked the room through a travel agency as part of a total package. The agency staff told us the hotel was refurbished not too long and comfortable for leisure stay. In fact, we had to pay slightly more for this hotel.

The Good :)
1. Location is good - close enough to MTR, TST shopping area, local eateries. The walk to Harbour CIty area (near Star Ferry) was bearable for our parents. Very often, we would roam around the hotel's vicinity till midnight as shops close at late hours.

2. While the room is not huge, it is considered good enough by HK standard.

3. Requests for extra room amenities were frequently met at short waiting time.

4. Airport Express Bus Shuttle stops just at the hotel main entrance.

5. A 7-11 store is very closeby so you can get your snacks and drinks at local prices.


The Bad :(
1. Though it's refurbished, my family felt the room is a little tired looking. There is no disposable/paper hand towels provided (so do prepare plenty of them!), no safe in the room, pathetic bath towels, worn out looking carpets...

2. Prat Avenue can be a little noisy and messy. Day time, you'll find people hanging around the lottery centre and in the evening, more people hanging around the few pubs in the vicinity.


In brief, choose this hotel only if (in order of ranking)
1. price is great
2. location is more important than comfort (then again, there are better located hotels)
3. you have no better options!

Personally, I'd avoid this hotel if possible. Pay a couple more dollars and the next hotel may be tons better than this!

Was there from 20 - 24th Dec. had the normal double room. was surprised at the size wen i got in the room. It was spacious!! location is near to TST MTR Exit A2. It's less than 5 mins walk to the station. There is about 4 clubs/pubs across the hotel. staff service is reasonably "ok". loved the location and the room and that's about it. you can get your breakfast directly opposite the hotel. it the standard teahouse in hong kong which serves good/cheap food. there is also a restaurant on the left of the hotel. just turn left when you are out and you can see the signs of the restaurant. the place starts at 8am for their dim sums. try it! there's 7-Eleven and K-mart along the same street. you have everything here. Granville is just 2 street behind.
Glad to choose this hotel over those along Nathan Road.

This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Kowloon. It is close to the Star Ferry, subway, shopping, restaurants, the park, etc. The lobby is nice and clean, which is why it is always in the photos. The rooms are quite dirty. The carpets are filthy, and you will need to wear shoes in the room. It amazes me that management allows the rooms to stay like this. The bathroom has a drain that sends the smell of sewage into the bathroom and sometimes into the room. I had to cover my nose. The bed is fine. The staff are not particularly friendly, but they do their job. No greeting, no smiles, just a look that says "What do you want?" We enjoyed being in the heart of Hong Kong, but would NEVER stay in Guangdong Hotel again. Spend a few more bucks and stay someplace decent.
