“Expensive, but not bad as airport hotels go”

We stayed at this hotel for 10 hours (daytime) during a stopover from Perth, although we needed to stay for 12 hours, but the cost was prohibitive. It was 200Euro for the 10 hours! We didn't have any problem checking in, but again, as someone else mentioned, the hotel desks at the arrivals area in the airport are absolutely useless! We had tried to find this hotel on our way to Perth, knowing we'd need somewhere on the way back, and not one person could tell us that there was a hotel at the airport!!!

Anyway..we found the right desk on the way back, and after my husband tried to get a better rate (didn't) we checked in. We had a room overlooking the sea, but the smog or fog was quite bad, so there really wasn't any view! Our room also overlooked the swimming pool. We were on the 12th floor which was nice. We didn't hear any planes landing or taking off - it's like we were in a different place to the airport. We went down to the Om Spa and booked a few massages for later in the day, before our long flight to Paris. This was ideal!! Except for the cost of the hotel, I thought it was perfect for our needs. It really is close to arrivals, and we also were able to go into Hong Kong for a few hours after we rested.

“Only stay if you have no other choice”

Regal Airport Hotel

Me and my wife have arrived in HK on SAT night and our connecting flights were on SUN lunchtime. We wanted to overnight somwhere comfortable in airport hotel or somewhere near airport. Little did we know that HK has only 2 options if you want to be near airport - Regal Hotel and Novotel.

Everyone who has been in HK knows how bad the customer service there can be and that the staff are usually not friendly if not rude.

This got confirmed when checking in Regal Airport Hotel later but before then I need to say, do not try to book your hotel from the USELESS travel agencies located in the arrivals hall. They are the most useless places I ever had to deal with. The common practice seem to be point the finger at opposite agency and direct you there without any explanation. It might happen that from there they will ask you to go back to the first one or somewhere completely else for information. So far my experience from the airport.

Now, Regal Airport Hotel***** - the attitude of staff stink, they do not smile, are not friendly, almost feels like they are angry you coming to their hotel. (I was thinking what might be the reason behind it and figured that perhaps they still feel upset about the fact that HK is now under China. However, HK is of no interest to mainlanders - except Disneyland)

We ended up paying nearly GBP200.00 (USD400.00) per night per room in this no character, no friendly and no luxury place. Considering what you get this is a ridiculous amount of money. but again, it comes to the fact that Regal has monopoly at the airport and so they charge whatever they like.

We managed to get upgraded to deluxe room for the price we paid, however even that was a big dissapointment. We even doubt whether it was the deluxe room or they were just lying to us. I do not want to imagine what standard room is like.

Rooms are small and except few L'occatine cosmetic samples do not expect any luxury. The biggest luxury you will get for the money is the proximity to the airport.

Thanx HK, I had enough. At least I know that I will avoid HK for long time now and change it for more friendly and more advanced Shanghai or in fact anywhere in Mainland.

“Great stop over!”

Flight had been moved to a later date, but food and accomodation was provided directly from the airline. We were very impressed with this hotel! Lobby was fantastic and rooms were so expansive! The hotel also offers many different restaurants, which is a plus, so many to choose from! You'd think that airport hotels could sometimes be noisy and boring, but this was definitely far from that! It was a good and quick stop over!

“Depressing and expensive”

Regal Airport Hotel

Stayed here because I basically had no choice, with a very early flight the next morning. Rooms are tiny - like a Japanese style "business hotel" with pre-molded bathrooms. Don't remember whether the hotel is non-smoking, but my room definitely was, and yet the whole place stank of smoke, as well as some other undefined smell in the rooms that made sleep difficult. Uncomfortable bed, inedible room service dinner, inevitable queues at reception... This is a 2-star hotel charging 5-star prices, but they have a captive audience. I heard that a second hotel will open at HK airport - maybe it will be better?
