Have stayed on several occasions since 2001 either visiting HK or in transit to/from Australia. Staff are brilliant and many have worked there for over ten years. Arriving at 6am after a long flight from UK its wonderful to be received by a cheery bell captain saying "Good Morning Mr & Mrs Taylor welcome back. How long are you staying this time? Does Mrs Taylor need a wheelchair? I'll have it sent to your room as soon as you have checked in. The rest of the staff from every department are equally friendly and anxious to cater for your every need. We have nothing but the highest praise for this hotel and would not consider staying anywhere else in Hong Kong.

We spent 2 nights at the Renaissance Harbour View in January en route to Sydney.
We booked a Harbour View room & were upgraded to the club floor on arrival. The room was a decent size & had a very comfortable bed & excellent shower. The highlight was the floor to ceiling windows with a stunning view of Victoria Harbour.
We thought the location was good as it was close to the Star Ferry & a short walk to the MTR station. We found Hong Kong very easy to get around & with excellent transport links.
The restaurant Dynasty inside the hotel was very good & a reasonable price.
It was too cold to use the pool but it was a good size with many loungers & a good view of the harbour.
I was a little apprehensive about this hotel after reading some reviews but I had no need to worry as it was great & would come back again.

Hi we stayed here on the 28th Jan for 2 nights on our way to Sydney. We arrived at the hotel complete with our luggage after a long flight from Heathrow. We made our way to the check-in area and we welcomed by a smart young lady who was apparently a trainee, However, she did have a member of staff with her watching her every move. My travelling party consisted of me and my same sex partner. We were asked whether we wanted two singles or a double bed, I asked for a double bed and were asked a further 3 times what type of bed we wanted. We could not believe what we were hearing. A service industry and they hadnt come across gay people before, for gods sake, there was various airlines staying in the hotel we werent the only gay people they had come across. We found this very embarassing at check in with the whole of the staff looking at us as though we were monsters with 2 heads. We did speak to the manager on the way out with no joy. Other than that the hotel was clean, they had complete floor renovations going on during the day. We did find it hard to relax in the hotel in the day if you popped back to the hotel for and hours sleep. My final word is be aware of the evening buffet we asked for the menu at breakfast for the evening meal which they showed us but when it came to the evening we were pushed into the buffet evening meal.

We had a week in the Harbour View and it was superb. We arrived early Sunday morning and in our room within 10 minutes.

We had a corner harbour view room on the 19th floor - very spacious with floor to ceiling windows giving a fantastic panoramic view of the harbour, skyscrapers and the Star ferries busily sailing to and from Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom (Kowloon). The room was very modern and immaculately kitted out and serviced (it was even 'refreshed' each evening - choccies and complimentary bottled water).

The facilities were great, the pool area on the 11th floor was huge, full of trees, greenery walking/running paths, tennis courts and a massive swimming pool. We used the pool every morning (no one else did!), it was slightly chilly but, followed by a sauna, a really refreshing way to beat off the jet lag.

We ate in the Renaissance restaurant a couple of times and had three (huge and varied) buffet breakfasts - quite pricey but top quality and exceptional service. The service at the hotel was incredible - we had a (small) problem with our shower head and within 5 minutes of reporting it, it had been fixed.

There are plently of places to eat and drink nearby and the MTR station is a five minute walk along a covered walkway. The whole area (Wan Chai & indeed Hong Kong) is extremely safe so make sure you really explore. Buy an Octopus card (a really handy and cheap way to use all methods of public transport as well as various shops and tourist attractions etc). If you do one thing in Hong Kong make sure it's the trip to Victoria Peak - it's touristy but the views are incredible. A tip would be to avoid the viewing platform (fee) and go for a five minute walk on the Peak Trail to afford some spectacular views of the Hong Kong skyline and harbour...if you do two things, use your Octopus card on the Star ferries as much as you can...they are fantastic.

All in all the Renaissance is a great place to stay in probably the best part of HK (Wan Chai) for a visitor. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone.
