Having read some reviews about this hotel I was not looking forward to staying there but I was pleaseantly surprised. Ok, so it could do with a lick of paint but it is clean and the staff are polite and helpful.
Ths food is good and very cheap. There is a choice of 4 reatuarants just within the hotel. (The Italian one is a good start is you get in late and hungy on the first night).
The location is good, very central, and you can walk to all the main spots.
There is a taxi rank and hores and cart rank right outside the hotel so you do get hassaled all the time but this has nothing to do with the hotel and is Luxor in general. You will get hasseled about everthing, everywhere, do you want a ride, do you want to buy my goods, eat in mu place, etc, etc. Just learn to say No firmly (La is no and La shookram means No Thank You).
We were told that sterling, dollars and euro were acepatable currancy but found out the Egyptian pound if generally the only acepted money. The exchange rate out there is quite good so don't worry if you have ordered the 'wrong' currancy. Generally things are cheap.
It is a Muslam country so do not expect to find a lot of alcohol. although it is available but is dearer.
