“Friendly & good value”

I went to Egypt for a cheap last-minute week away and had a great time. The Mercure Inn is really central and within walking distance of the souk, the Nile and the Luxor temple. The hotel is set in its own gardens so it's still very peaceful. Staff are friendly and helpful, I felt very comfortable as a lone female. Breakfast was good with lots of choice (not the best coffee though!) My room was very comfortable and clean, with air con, huge bed, satelite tv with english language films and a big bath. The bathroom was tiled in dark brown which was - interesting!
There is a pool with sunloungers which did get reserved with people's towels very early in the morning - so if you want a good spot get up early!
I had a great stay, no complaints and would recommend this to anyone for a cheap and comfortable stay.

we stayed here also, in june for 1 week. the hotel was clean the rooms very spacious, and the staff very helpful, the rooms were cleaned daily, bedding towels ect,and found no problems at all. was a bit worried as we hade read reviews, but looks like a lot had been done to the facilities, since some of the photo,s that we had seen.but had a good time in luxor, even with the hassle you get, but just ignored .

“Give it a chance!”

Having read some reviews about this hotel I was not looking forward to staying there but I was pleaseantly surprised. Ok, so it could do with a lick of paint but it is clean and the staff are polite and helpful.

Ths food is good and very cheap. There is a choice of 4 reatuarants just within the hotel. (The Italian one is a good start is you get in late and hungy on the first night).

The location is good, very central, and you can walk to all the main spots.

There is a taxi rank and hores and cart rank right outside the hotel so you do get hassaled all the time but this has nothing to do with the hotel and is Luxor in general. You will get hasseled about everthing, everywhere, do you want a ride, do you want to buy my goods, eat in mu place, etc, etc. Just learn to say No firmly (La is no and La shookram means No Thank You).

We were told that sterling, dollars and euro were acepatable currancy but found out the Egyptian pound if generally the only acepted money. The exchange rate out there is quite good so don't worry if you have ordered the 'wrong' currancy. Generally things are cheap.

It is a Muslam country so do not expect to find a lot of alcohol. although it is available but is dearer.
