We stayed here for 3 nights before a cruise on the Nile.
The best thing about this hotel is the position. We had a stunning room in the new garden wing overlooking the pyramid. It is a breathtaking view, literally with the pyramids on the doorstep. Please pay the extra for the view, it is so worth it!
The room (and en suite) was clean, modern, big, beautiful, elegant, peaceful.
The hotel is exquisite, the various public rooms stunningly decorated with a wonderful atmosphere of authentic, fashionable charm.
Breakfast, evening meal, room service could not be faulted!
The grounds are vast, the pool area wonderful (although the pool was actually closed on our visit).
Staff were efficient and friendly. Security was high.
We used the in-house travel agent to book an hour's camel ride (£15) which was amazing, down a dubiously fascinating alley full of locals to the camel stable, then on a ride into the Sahara with a fantastic view of the pyramids. Do it as the sunsets!
We also took advice from "wendycairo" from Tripadvisor and booked (before we went) a guide to take us on a morning tour of Islamic Cairo; The Sultan Hassan Mosque, the Ibn Toulon Mosque and the Gayer Anderson Museum. Amazing. Ibn Toulon is a must....don't miss it for the world.
Another guide took us around the pyramids and to the Cairo Museum - brilliant.
I cannot imagine doing Cairo without a guide. They are so cheap, arrange the transport and, in our experience, were excellent.
Take antiseptic hand wash with you at all times!
