I stayed at this hotel in late April 2008. I pre-paid and was charged $96.75 nightly. This is a modern hotel in a great location. There are tons a shops, restaurants and attractions in super close proximity to the hotel. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and they go out of there way to assist. My room was large but then again, I was traveling alone. If you have a laptop, free internet is provided. If not, free internet is available on the 19th floor of the hotel. I would stay at this hotel again and again given the price, location and convenience to subway station which is ultra close. The hotel is easy to reach from the international airport. Just take the KAL Limousine Bus (approximately $14). Get off at the Lotte Hotel stop, walk towards the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts sign, turn right at the corner and it is halfway down the block on the left.

Business serviceMe and my wife stayed at the Ibis, Myeong Dong recently and absolutely loved our stay. It is in the middle of very lively shopping areas & just a 5 minute walk from Euljiro-1 subway station. This makes it very easy to move around Seoul (They have a great subway system which connects most parts of the city).
Ofcourse, like all other such hotels, they do not have a room service etc. but each floor contains a vending machine which contains basic snacks and drinks. They also have a water and Ice dispenser on each floor.
The Rooms are small but clean and cozy. In any case, the way this hotel is located you would not want to spend too much time indoors anyway!

Business serviceBased on the reviews of this site, my sister and I stayed at the Ibis from March 19 to the 27. We went to see Seoul but mostly to see my son who is studying there. This was my first trip abroad and I thought the room was a little small when we first arrived. I would compare it to a stateroom on a ship. However, I found we had plenty of room even when my son crashed with us (anything for a free meal). As previously posted the rooms do not have individual thermostats so you are stuck with the seasons settings. I was warm and was handed a fan upon request. The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English. The Ibis has a promise that if anything is wrong they will correct it in fifteen minutes or your stay is free. I saw the sign right after I reported our stopped up shower to the front desk as my sister went down to change. Thank goodness she was just a little faster than the maintenance personnel. We used the restaurant, the Green tea Spa, and the laundry room. After all the walking we did we didn’t use the exercise room but I did get pictures.
The hotel had an electrical inspection in which the electricity was turned off between 2 and 4 am. We did not get notice this would happen. Our fan turned off, I woke up, called the front desk. The young man could not have been more apologetic that we were missed with the written notification than if had done it himself. I only mention it because on our checking out of the hotel we were presented with a gift for our inconvenience. The inconvenience that was not of their control, the only control they had was notification. They gave my sister and I a pouched travel blanket and even gave my son a charger for his phone via computer and he wasn’t even listed as an occupant.
There is no doubt you can pay for a more glitzy lobby and or room but you will be hard pressed to find a better experience. The service extended by the staff of this hotel by far exceeds anything I have ever experienced stateside or ship side.
I am from New Zealand and was visiting Seoul for the first time. I stayed 1 night at this IBIS hotel, so I could be near the city, after spending 3 nights in Novotel Doksan. The Novotel Doksan cost KRW 178000 with breakfast, whereas the IBIS Myeong-dong cost KRW 121000 with breakfast.
The IBIS outshone the Novotel Doksan in every respect. The reception staff were extrremely friendly and offered lots of advice (whereas those at Novotel were more businesslike & less helpful). Brochures and maps were available unlike at the Novotel.
I liked the cosy IBIS room, as it was modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of Western and Asian dishes. There were 3 PCs with free internet on the 19th floor where the lobby was (Novotel did not have free internet). The location was great with plenty of shops and food places nearby. I walked to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, which took me about 30 minutes (it cost only 3 KRW to enter the palace).
The free hotel shuttle bus took me to the KAL Airport bus stop about 5 minutes away. The KAL airport bus cost KRW14000 and took only 45 minutes to Incheon airport as it was Sunday morning.
The IBIS hotel had a warm relaxed atmosphere and I enjoyed staying here. I wish I had more nights at this charming hotel. I booked this hotel via their website based on the Tripadvisor reviews, and am grateful for the travellers who recommended this hotel. This hotel is great value. I wished all hotels were as good as this one!
