For you people coming on holidays, be aware.....This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so there is nothing else to do other than staying at the hotel and you are forced to use their expensive facilities. The place is only OK for week-ends - people with a budget beware.......
Positive points :
- very good service
- nice hotel
Negative points :
- buffet food very average and overpriced (145 aed +16%)
- restaurants also average and expensive
- drinks expensive (dont touch anything from the mini bar)
- sea too shallow, you have to walk ...and walk ...and walk
- very very expensive water sports (150 aed/pers/15 min Banana and 450 aed the boat for 30 min)
- too small swimming pool, overcrowded on fridays
I think you can find better places with more to do.

ServiceThis hotel is very peaceful (the nightclub did not trouble us at all; we hardly knew it was there) and not too large - the largely open plan areas mean it's good for children, who can never roam far. There's very little to do except rest and relax by the pool or on the beach, or do the gym/sauna, so this is what you need to have as your objective.
We had booked all-inclusive. We did this to make things less of a hassle, but it started off backfiring, as there are rules about what juices (packet, not fresh) and spirits (house, not premium) you are allowed to have on an all-inclusive basis. Some of the staff needed to be told explicitly each time that we wanted a PACKET juice, which meant that the hassle remained. I must stress, however, that when it came to settling up, there were no extras so we were very favourably impressed by the way the hotel handled this.
We ate at the buffet for all meals, but the variety is huge! I could have spent all 11 days just eating the various salads, without going on to the continuously varied hot starters, main courses and puddings. Draught beer was served cool, Peter Gomes the chef produced special food for our 7 month old without strong flavours, and blended it, which we were particularly grateful for. The buffet is more varied than you would expect for a hotel twice as big, and quality is very good.
The rooms were fine, once you get used to putting the key cards in in slow motion. The lifts and atrium are a bit 80s, but understatement isn't an Emirates thing! The pool is too shallow to do proper laps in, but is perfect for children. Pool and beach staff are attentive and available.
If you're just looking to get away together, and don't need the thrill of new experiences, this hotel fits the bill just right.

Business serviceA stunningly beautiful location. 800 metres of private beach and great facilities.
Positives:
- Location
- View
- Private beach
- Gym
- Pool staff - top notch
- Pool and surrounding area - just beautiful
- Size and cleanliness of rooms
Could do better:
- If you're staying in any room on the same side as the night club don't expect to get any sleep. We were on the 4th floor and the music kept us awake until the club closed. Most nights this was 2.30 or 3am! Despite complaining to the concierge no action was taken.
- Reception staff/conceierge/restaurant staff. Showed no emotion or empathy when dealing with you. Very polite but in a hollow 'yes ma'am this is the way we have been trained to respond way.'
- Food in restaurants was very repetitive - although great quality. What they didn't sell in the al a carte restaurant in the evening turned up in the buffet at lunch the next day!
- water sports are very expensive for poor quality equipment hire

ServiceJust spent 1 week with my family at the Danat Resort in Abu Dhabi. Great hotel, well equiped, great location on its private white sandy beach. Good choice of restaurants, excellent food and great buffets (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Nice pools; especially safe for children as at least 2 persons are constantly overwatching them!
What really makes the difference at the Danat Resort is its staff and the level of service offered by the employees of the hotel. Everybody is very client oriented, efficient, helpfull and just very nice with guests. During our stay, my 11 month daughter was sick; as it was quite "serious" she was admitted with my wife in the nearby Al-Kuwais hospital for a couple of days. The hotel immeditely sent flowers and huge fruit baskets to the hospitals as well as drinks and newspapers. They also put at our disposal a car with a chauffeur. When my daughter and my wife got back; the hotel put flowers in our rooms, fruits, oriental pastries and a bottle of champagne! It was just fantastic.
We will definitely return to the resort very soon. It's a very nice property well managed and run by effcient people which offer a lot of activities in a very nice environment.
