We paid $38 plus $8 for the extra bed in the room. I agree with the other reviewers- nice rooms and lovely staff. DVDs were a hit. Computer in the foyer were very slow.

Next time we may consider a hotel with a pool as it was so hot in Hue.

Found the guide in the Citadel to be well woth the $5. They can be found on the right hand side before you enter the main gate.

Instead of doing a day trip on the river we hired a dragon boat for half a day for only $15.

I can't say enough about the Orchid. Like another reviewer said, Hue wasn't our favorite place in Vietnam, but the Orchid Hotel was our favorite hotel. The staff was exceptionally nice and friendly. They got every detail right, down to bringing you cold water while you used the free internet, to having DVD players in the rooms and free movies to watch (though some are not the best copies and lapse into Russian). The rooms were spotless and had everything we could want. We loved our stay here!

Staying at the Orchid Hotel was one of the highlights of our holiday in Vietnam. The staff are friendly, courteous, go out of their way to please and genuinely interested in the comfort of their guests.

We were thrilled with the rooms and furnishings and overall value for money and would gladly stay there again. We especially loved the DVD collection, which provided a great escape during the frequent downpours. Highly recommended!

We booked all our hotels online and really felt Orchid was an outstanding hotel for the money in Vietnam. $32/night ... everything was spotless and fresh. The hotel staff downstairs was so helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was centrally located and easy to get to any sites you'd want to see. Yes, we did request of the free DVDs one night and enjoyed just relaxing in our room after a long walk.
