“..three things”

As others have mentioned both the location for getting around and the staff are good I will not go into those details again.

But I would just like to mention three things which I really did not like about the hotel.

We had the room on the 8th floor. There are only two rooms here one being a guest room and the other a sort of stock come holding room for luggage and sometimes a general chatting room for staff, threin lies the problem. Being woken by staff as early as 5.45am with staff coming and going, and to be honest there was more noise from that room than from outside the hotel at times. If the room is to be used by guests there is room to put another door between stockroom/guest room this would cut down the noise. And if you have any mobility problems this room is accessed by a steep not to safe stairway. (lift ends at 7th floor)

During our stay of 5 nights the linen was not changed once, There was a mark on the sheet (looked like ink) and it was there for the whole stay. Pillowcases not changed either but towels changed daily.

The b/fast room is in a windowless room on the ground floor, not a problem really but when busy and its full and you have come down to eat being showered and changed you will go away smelling of fat as all the cooking is done in this one small room with not enough ventilation. You get fresh fruit which is a nice touch, but as it lying around with the cooking all I could taste was the cooking oil on it.. So gave the b/fast a miss after two days.

Others may not find these neather bothersome or a problem, however after reading some reviews you would think you were coming to stay at the Ritz!

And yes I know lots will disagree.......

We stayed a week at the Hotel Elegance 2 interrupted by a glorious 3 day 2 night cruise of Halong Bay organised for us by the hotel. We stayed in the very spacious deluxe room for US$60 per night including breakfast and it became a wonderful refuge from the heat and frantic pace of Hanoi. Dark wooden floors, cream painted walls, crisp cotton sheets on the king size comfy bed, mini bar, good size tv with cable, computer and free fast internet access actually in the room and quiet air con were fabulous. The bathrooms were huge with a spa and plenty of hot water. Double glazing and French wooden shutters opening to the balcony kept the noise out when needed. Little touches like an enormous plate of tropical fruit fresh daily and complimentary bottles of water make this hotel terrific value. The friendly considerate service ( a cool drink on arrival ) and airport pick up are just icing on the cake. A truly wonderful, extraordinarily good hotel especially at this price.

Excellent service and very helpful staffs. We stayed in a standard room on the first night as they do not have any more deluxe room. We have booked a deluxe room on the second night but they were very nice to upgrade us to the junior suite (705) at no additional charge. Both rooms were very clean but standard room was abit small. Overall an excellent hotel to stay in if your budget is about usd$60.

We stayed 3 different times during our month long Vietnam trip. We were met on arrival and efficiently transported to the hotel from the airport. What a wonderful and accomodating staff. Michael was so gracious. On our return to pick up luggage in between trains from Sapa and onto Hue he offered us the use of a room to shower and rest up. What a lifesaver as we were tired and hot from traveling. Tan at the booking desk arranged for a Halong Bay trip on the Halong Phoenix. A great adventure and comfortable and clean junk.
We cannot recommend this hotel more highly and if we are ever back in Hanoi we will most certainly stay at the Hanoi Elegance 2.

“Excellent room, excellent service”

Very clean, excellent location and the best service around. They make you feel like a million bucks. I would stay there anyday. On our last night there they had to move us to the newer Elegance 3...which is just a couple minutes away. They paid for the cab and did not up charge us. So we were completely okay with that because it is a little nicer at the elegance 3. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
