“Great time”

My wife and I had a great time at Cape Panwa Hotel. the staff is very nice and attentive.
Staff by the beach could rove around a little more to take orders, but if you tip well they do come by...
Rooms are ok, not great, but comfortable. Bathroom is clean but also ok, not great.
Hotel grounds are extremely well kept and the tram up from the beach is a life saver.
Breakfast is really good and the food selection/choices during the day (lunch, snack) are a little limited.
Beach - Idyllic of course, but it has a little coral. The tide lowers so much that the hotel gives you the times the beach is "open" and you can't swim if it's closed. That's ok as they have 2 other great pools.
We had a great time, though, and we would definitely go back.

“Nice place to relax”

Cape Panwa Hotel

Cape panwa is beautiful. The resort is old fashioned , green , has a private beach ( not blue clear water kind though) and they provide a canoe to have fun on the beach.
It is located at the south end of phuket island .We had hired bike from the phuket town ( which is not as posh as bangkok or pattaya).
Taxis to the hotel are expensive ( around 400 to 600 baht).

If you want to use cape panwa as just a hotel to stay to visit phuket and nearby islands then this place might not be very suitable. everything from here is more expensive .It is best for people who want to relax at the resort itself.

The hotel is clean and well kept.
The staff is ok. We faced some issues at the reception and the room / bath cleaning happened after we asked for it.

Just returned today what a fantastic place. Rooms are fantastic , the staff are second to none. Varoon is brilliant he looks after you so well and will do anything for you, you usually find him around the breakfast bar and the pool. He likes to wear Liverpool socks. John in the Bamboo bar on the beach is great too. If you dont want to be tied to the hotel get the shuttle bus down to the village and find the Sunset bar where Russell, wassana and Narak the dog will look after you. Russell will also arrange a trip for you to Bannana Island which is much cheaper than any of the agents. Try the Sawasdee bar for cheap drinks and meals very good value. We had a fantastic holiday and will be going back next year.

“Cape Panwa is Heaven on earth”

Cape Panwa Hotel

This was our second visit to Cape Panwa, we went there of rour honeymoon last september and were spoilt beyond belief without the high cost. There is so much to say about the staff who are so friendly and accomodating, the accomdation is great and the venue is superb. Where else can you sit beside the pool having breakfast and see a monkey casually stroll past off into the lush jungle around the resort.
The staff are so friendly and eager to please and they enjoy it when you try to learn some thai language phrases.
A casual comment by my wife to Rochidee (Front Office Manager) that she would like to have dinner in front of Panwa House on the beach was met when we went for dinner a couple of days later my wife and I were seated in front of Panwa House for dinner by the water and treated like royalty, mind you they treat you like royalty all over the place.
If you have any questions about what to do or where to go see Tim at the Customer Relations desk, a very knowlegeable and great guy.
If you want nightlife you can get a taxi (arranged from the hotel) into Phuket town or across to Patong and then comeback to Panwa to recover in wonderful bliss.
Lunch at Dow's Sawadee Restaurant in the village is one of the many cultural delights awaiting you, after lunch it is afternoon drinks at the Beach bar and if the mood takes you drinks at one of the bars for happy hour and each night there is a theme dinner in Cafe Andaman with live music.
If you want some really good clothes tailor made see Na (The Thai family Tailor) at the bottom of the hill. If art is your thing drop in and see Oody at the top of the hill, you can choose from one of his prepared works or he will happily paint for you, my wife and I took a photo from our wedding and Oody turned it into a living picture on canvas and it is not expensive.
We could regale you with all manner of great things but you really need to go and have the exerience of your life time.
Oh and by the way my wife and I are planning our next trip but this time we will go for four weeks instead of two.

“Loved it so much that we came back”

Cape Panwa Hotel

Jun 6, 2008

I absolutely love this part of Phuket. Cape Panwa is a little hidden treasure, but not for long if we keep writing good reviews about it... schhhhhhhh!!!

This was my husband and I 2nd time to this hotel. We love it here. The staff are lovely, the accomodation is great, the views are spectacular and the walk up and down the hill is hard going when you have had one too many down at Dow's bar (a delightful lady who runs one of the restaurants in the little village). There is a courtesy hotel bus that runs from the hotel to the small village (5 mins drive). The village itself hosts a couple of tailors, massage shop, a few bars & restaurants and a tour operator/shop. There is also an aquarium marine right down past all the bars & restaurants on the sea front edge.

As previously mentioned before by other reviews, Cape Panwa is right out of the way of all the hussle, noise and chaos of Phuket's more lively resorts. Yet only 15 mins away in a taxi if thats what you want and fancy a bit of shopping and more westernised cuisine..ie McDonalds!!!!!!) Not my cup of tea but it was fun to go in and come back out again.

I definately suggest taking a tour to Phi Phi Island, the elephant trek, James Bond Island and hiring a Thai boatman to take you around the more secluded islands on a 'long-tail boat'. Some of these things do not suit everyone. Phi Phi island is very young and very back packers type of and island, but there are some hotels that cater for all requirements & ages.

Sorry...back to the hotel...there are two pools one at the top of the hotel and one down on the beach. There is a cable car to take you from the top of the hotel to the beach....it is quite a steep climb up, but good for your daily excercise. Next to the pool on the beach there is the local pet 'Bobby' who is an otter and resides at the resort and daily goes out to sea for a swim. There are also monkeys in the lush vegetation that surrounds the grounds. Sometimes they jump down for a dip in the pool, which is highly amusing. No, I have not been eating those magic mushrooms, it is true.
