“Fabulous Hotel!”

Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa

We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of September as part of a longer trip. This is a lovely, small and quiet hotel in a good location. Very stylish and great value for money. It's perfect for couples but perhaps too quiet for families. We booked through an agency and got a great rate.

We found this hotel to be more than a third cheaper than another similarly graded hotel we stayed at on the same trip - but the quality and service was just as good. The restaurant is excellent here with an extensive menu. We ate several times in the restaurant with friends and the food was fabulous every time - some of the best meals we had on our trip. Very good service too.

The hotel is located on a good stretch of beach at the western end of Bophut beach. Lots of local fisherman have their longtail boats here too. It's about a 15 min walk along the beach from Fisherman's Village, and we hired a scooter from a shop across the road for zipping around on. The same shop also did our laundry for a few pennies.

We had a Garden Deluxe room which was spacious and located close to the pool, beach and restaurant. The outdoor bathroom is an unusual feature and the hotel provided little extras like mozzi spray in case you needed to venture in there at night! A nice touch. We also had two little friends in the bathroom - two fish in bowls! The pool area was very nice and the drinks and snacks service was good too.

The beachfront rooms looked really nice. We noticed that some rooms were set back away from the beach in well-maintained gardens but I didn't see what they were like. I would recommend choosing a room closer to the beach just for the sake of convenience.

My only negative comment is that a small stream runs by the hotel in front of rooms 10-14 and it was sometimes a bit smelly. Not sure the hotel could really do much about that though.

We would rate this hotel as 4*+ and we would definitely stay here again if we go back to Samui.

Just back from a lovely 2 weeks stay at Zazen. We will recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to go to Samui. Bohput beach is the right place if you like an easy going and quiet stay, but in the same time just 15 minutes from busy Chaweng.
We stayed in room 3 a beach bungalow, which might be smaller than the garden bungalows but the view was great and alsways something happening in front of your house. For us it was big enough since we only slept in there. My complements to the wifes owner for the nicely decoration, it sure feels like home.
The restaurant is marvelous, Wally is a great Chef, we had several dinners and enjoyed anything on the menu, A shame I found out on the last day that they also had a huge lunch menu, we "only" choose from the tapas menu since we loved to had lunch in the comfertable chairs at the bar. Breakfast might be sober but for us enough to choose from.
We had a lot of fun with the girls from the restaurant, Nok, Nuch, Toon, which seems shy and polite but in the meantime naughty little ladies, thanx girls and take care ...
Service at Zazen is one of the best we ever had in all facets.

So ... to be short, just go there and have the time of your life. Don't forget to rent a scooter to tour the island but be carefull in the crazy trafic.

I stayed in Zazen with my girlfriend for six nights early December 2005.Since it was my first time in Thailand and none of my friends ever been there i just decided to roll the dice!!!Well i guess i had a double 6!!!Lets start with the negatives.Although we had arrange for airport transfer, the hotel van did not appear in the airport.I gave them a call and the mini van arived within 15 minutes.Along with their apologies they offered me the ride on our departure free!!!Check in was fast.No worries etc.Although our booking was for a garden deluxe room ,they told us that we can upgrade in a garden villa(which was huge !!!) if could wait for an hour. Why not we said and we were right, because the weather for the next 6 days was just rain and rain and rain.So we spent enough time in the room.Hotell stuff was great, very polite and funny. We were invited in their annual party in a local taverna with free transfer. It was a great night.Restaurant was excellent, nicely decorated and with great variety.Breakfast was normal, nothing funcy but more than enough. You could order eggs the way you wanted. How about the room?Well i ve never stayed in such a huge room(60 sq.m).Greatly decorated with coffee corner, an open air bathroom and one of the best beds i ever slept.Did i mention the big sofa and the DVD?I have no comments on the beach issue because the weather ruined my beach plans. However lots of excarsions can be made through the hotel desk with a discount of up to 20%.And its a real discount because i checked the prices outside the hotel.Dont miss the Catamaran cruise in Ko Pagnan island. As i mentioned earlier the hotel stuff was great but what they did during my check out was something that i ll never forget.I used my credit card and i forgot it under the receipt. When the hotel van left us at the airport the driver got a call on his cell phone about my card.He went back to the hotel and brought the card back.!!!What can i say.?Thank you very much people in Zazen.Looking forward for my next visit!!!So if you look for a small hotel not croweded and away from the mess of Chaweng beach this is amoong the best
deals in Samui

P.s They even sent me an e-mail on my birthday 1 month later.
