We booked a deluxe garden suite - they're small. Service was average and smiles were seldom. We stayed Xmas eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day. What was disappointing for us was the Xmas gala. It wasn't cheap and whilst the food was lovely the entertainment was diabolical. The actually started clearing the stage at 11PM whilst people were still eating. It's right on the beach which is nice and the more secluded pool was quite nice, but for the money, I was left disappointed. When we checked out we asked for someone to collect our lugagge. 15 mins later it still hadn't arrived at reception and because we had a plane to catch we had to resort to walking back to our room and getting it ourselves.

Wouldn't go back here if I re-visit KS.

We stayed at the Chaweng Regent during our honeymoon from 12/14/2007 to 12/17/2007. We had planned to stay at different resort on Koi Samui, and the Chaweng Regent was the first hotel we stayed on the island. When we arrived, they gave us a cold towel, which was very much welcome due to the humidity. The staff was friendly, and checked in went smoothly. The bell boy took us to our room. It was a tiny room with a garden view. The room contained one king bed, small tv, two chairs and a small table. The bathroom was just as tiny with just a small shower stall. We later upgraded to a room with a view of the pool on the first floor. This room was a bit better, however a update was needed. Bathroom had a separate tub area and double sinks. The mattress on the bed however was awful. It gave us back problems, and was hard to get a good night sleep. Also the resort is very lush in plants and ponds. This caused alot of mosquitoes at the resort area, and caused mosquitoes to come into the room very easily. We did enjoy lunch at the restaurant near the beach. We ordered sweet and sour pork and a deep fried red snapper with chilies. The food was terrific. The resort also offered free breakfast buffet in the morning, that came with the price of the room which was an added plus.

Overall, we think this resort was more like a 3 star average resort, rather than a 4 star rating (listed on Expedia). We would definitely not come back to this resort, as there are quite a few other nicer hotels on Chaweng Road that was much better.

We went to the Chaweng Regent for our honeymoon. We dont usually write in these reviews but cant help it here...it was FANTASTIC!!!

The staff were helpful and nice, the room was very clean (loved the mosquito guy each day!!) the pools were refreshing (pool bar was fun too as the staff were great and everyone enjoyed). Get in early in the morning to reserve the good chairs, as we found after the 2nd day.

The breakfast was great...loved the omelettes!!

Very central to all of the restaurants, bars and shopping and right on the beach....cant go wrong. We checked out a few other hotels while there and this was up there with the best.

Will be back.

We arrived at the hotel having stayed in a 5 star hotel in Bangkok and so were hard to please from the offset. However, after a week wandering around Chaweng and nosing into other hotels we definitely chose the best of the lot. By the end of the holiday we really had a great fondness for our little chalet-type room and the tropical gardens that surrounded us.

The disappointing bits were: the staff at the Chomtalay restaurant were not the friendly Thai people we were used to up to that point on our trip (this was often the case at this hotel but not enough to affect our enjoyment). The food was nice though - the view was beautiful (ate at breakfast and lunch). There are a great number of mosquitos in the area but they offer a great repellent that helped us pretty much avoid getting biten when using it. You also have to use your do not disturb/tidy the room sign avidly if you'd like privacy.

However, the beautiful pool overlooking the beach with sea that is like a giant pool in itself as it is calm and warm. We swam lengths to keep fit and went to the gym (not excellent but definitely does the job). We really ended up loving the place and it was an oasis in Chaweng, not too commercial and very relaxing.

I would defintely go back!
