I cannot stress enough how great this hotel is. I got a good rate because they had opening season offers, and also because I got a free night using my Asia Miles.
One 'negative' thing that happened is my credit card was charged twice. After a few calls back and forth between Accor this was resolved (probably due to teething issues) and they UPGRADED me to a deluxe room with use of the executive floor! So for what I got I paid bargain basement prices, and I'm quite grateful that was sorted out quickly with such a reward for having to 'endure' the problem 8-)
Room: Interesting room that you can really open up. The bedroom can look into the bathroom, and the closet can be opened from inside the bathroom. Heaps of the usual amenities (shampoo, lotion, soap, nice fluffy robes and slippers, tea and coffee, mini bar, fridge with free soft drink, water or fruit juice) but also slightly more unusual ones like a free shoe shine service, interactive TV, pillow menu. Had some room service which was very fast and really nice. Expensive for Thailand maybe but I thought quite reasonably priced for an upper class hotel. Had complimentary fruit upon arrival and papers every day.
Executive floor privileges (all FREEEE):
- breakfast in the lounge which offers a condensed version of what's offered in the main restaurant, and a special cooked breakfast menu. (Main buffet was nice with heaps and HEAPS of variety, well worth it, just seemed rather crowded and loud every day)
- canapes in the evening, which essentially replaces dinner. Lots of little fancy dessert cups, sandwiches, chocolate, fruit, canapes, fried finger food, sushi, all sorts of drinks inc alcohol for free
- computers for internet use inc webcam
- massage chair
- various newspapers, mags and games (other international newspapers can be ordered for a small fee)
- free drinks and snacks all day long
- free suit pressing, free piece of laundry per day, free local calls, late check out
- 15% off at the duty free mall (where you pick up your goods at the airport all wrapped up for you to take through security)
- use of airport lounge!! (Which wasn't very good, or even very air conditioned, quite an exposed space, had a few cakes and sandwiches and drinks, very SLOW internet, showers and chairs, but it was freeee!)
and other stuff that I didn't use 8-)
Pool: Really large with separate areas, nice sunbeds, big fluffy towels for you to use, nice view on top of roof.
Gym: Lots of machines, big space, trainer to help you!
Spa: Very expensive! Looked professional though. (250 baht for a 1hr massage in dodgy place is normal, this charged an arm and a leg)
Staff: everyone was really really nice and polite (famous Thai hospitality), and I think the Miss Thailand was being held there so reporters and tall beautiful women swanning around was quite an experience.
Don't forget there's a free tuk tuk to nearest train and another shopping mall, fish feeding in the main atrium, really funky bars and restaurants inside the hotel, nice friendly concierge! There's not much around the area but the sky train will get you anywhere, and it's pretty cheap.
