My husband and I stayed in Bangkok for 6 nights on our way home from Phuket. We had read about Siam@Siam design on tripadvisor and thought it looked good. Good is not the word, Fantastic. Think of your chain hotel, painted walls, carpeted etc. Siam is not that. Concrete floors, walls, trendy coloured walls, trendy furnishings, so different it was great. Room was very comfortable with king size bed, lounge, large bathroom.
Lobby and pool are on the 11th floor, pool is amazing in that you swim to the edge and the edge is 11floors down, brillant. Has a small spa and the front but swimming in this pool is great. Plenty of lounge chairs and a couple of day beds also. Pool towels are provided so no need to pack them. Drinks at the bar a reasonable price with beer and soft drink the cheapest, spirits a bit dearer. Free internet is available in the lobby also.
Breakfast is full buffet breakfast with eggs cooked any way you want, pancakes, bacon juice you name it they had it. Coffee is good also.
We had a massage on the last day and was heaven. I asked for a relaxing massage and that is what I got for an hour A$45. Bath robes are provided in your room to wear to level 10 where spa 10 is, water is provided and after the spa, fresh fruit and tea.
Siam is in walking distance of MBK shopping centre which has 7 floors of shopping/food etc. We were not to sure about eating in Bangkok as we were in Phuket so stuck to the shopping centre and had thai bbq, tepanyaki etc.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when asking about directions and places to visit. Taxis are the easiest way to get around and air conditioned (tuk tuk taking you life in your hands). Taxis go straight to where you want. We took the sky train which is just out the front door of the hotel which is easy and safe but the long boat on the river was a rip off. We paid 500bht for train and boat to get to the grand palace and taxi only cost 75bht to get back.
All in all we loved this hotel because it was different to a traditional hotel. We would stay here again. Lots of families here also.
What you see on the siam@siam website is what you see in the hotel.
River kwai and tiger temple a must. spent lots of time with tigers playing with them and holding cubs.
