“Beautiful hotel”

If you love Somerset Maugham and Grahame Greene, stay at or visit The Eugenia for afternoon tea. The rooms are spacious and lovely, full of old-fashioned charm. The staff are courteous and incredibly helpful. The afternoon tea rooms are straight from a film set - a lovely library, comfy couches, dimly lit, old cabinets, old fans etc. Thailand wasn't colonised as such, but this hotel exudes that era.

“charming colonial mansion in a leafy suburb of bangkok”

from the airport pick-up in the old merc, to the copper bathtub in our room

this place is super-romantic, super-charming, and a great breath of fresh air if you're a bit tired of white-minimalist cristina ong/banyan tree-style spa-hotels

the hotel is small and charming.. the pool also.. if you need otherwise go somewhere else

in a world being invaded by blandness, stereotypes, big brands, its wonderful to find somewhere with true personality

thank you eugenia x

“Loved the Eugenia”

The Eugenia

When we arrived we were informed we had been upgraded to a 'Eugenia Suite', and the room was beautiful. Simple decor, with furniture and decorating kept in original style. There were thoughtful touches in the room such as a fresh fruit platter and fresh coconut juice upon arrival. The staff were extremely helpful and made clear to us the facilities available at the hotel and how to use them. The atmosphere of the hotel was one of tranquillity, whether in the room or in the common areas. As the hotel only has twelve rooms, we received a personal treatment and enjoyed the private feel of the hotel. Altogether an excellent stay!

“Fantastic time at the Eugenia”

The Eugenia

What a fantastic experience. It's not your typical hotel, but it has all the charm of an old colonial style house. On arrival we were picked up by an old jaguar (gorgeous). We had the smallest room in the hotel, but we didnt mind, since we only stayed 2 nights. The service was excellent, the food was great, the bed nice and cozy.... the location was a little off. It's a good (complicated) walk from the skytrain and taxis were not familiar with the hotel. But my husband and I still loved it, and will definitely go back.

“Not up to Relais & Chateaux Standards”

The Eugenia

After two months of travelling IndoChina our last four days were spent at the Eugenia in Bangkok. We'd arranged for pick-up at the airport and transfer back to the hotel in one of the Eugenia's classic autos. The guide slept all the way back to the hotel (luckily the driver was wide awake!). A quick overview of the city is usually the norm when being picked up by a hotel representative.

The hotel is definitely charming, the ground floor beautifully furnished, and we loved the opportunity to dip into the pool upon arrival. We dined in-house the first night and after settling into the intimate dining room we discovered absolutely no Thai food on the menu! We had to eat in the bar/lounge to enjoy the wonderful cuisine of the country. The breakfast menu is presented - with prices - and absolutely no explanation that one dish is gratis with the room stay. Nor could the staff understand enough English to confirm if fruit was available with the breakfast courses.

The staff comes across as a bit haughty but efficient overall. One day we asked for directions to a specific business. The directions were completely inaccurate, we were sent to an entirely different area of the city, and wasted over two hours of our morning. When we later complained to the individual a shouting match ensued in the hotel lobby. VERY poor form.

The housekeeping service was hit and miss with dirty dishes left in our room and turn down service only offered one night. On the whole I would say the Eugenia is definitely not up to the standards offered at Relais & Chateaux hotels. I would not recommend the hotel nor will we stay there again.
