I booked the dream bangkok hotel at the end of our 2 week trip to thailand. After reading reviews on trip advisor and dailycandy.com I thought we would be staying at the coolest place ever. When we checked in we were upgraded from the classic room to the deluxe in Dream 2. The room was a decent size for 2 people. The decor was nice too. Plushy robes, nice slippers, dvd player to watch all of our newly acquired bootlegs that we bought on khao san road, and the plasma screen tv were nice touches. I must be the only one on trip advisor to complain about this, but my bed was very stiff and hard. You could jump on the bed and it wouldn't wiggle one bit. I think the floor would have been more comfortable. We had 2 full beds so I don't know if these are a different quality from the king beds. I literally laid my feather pillows down on the bed and then slept on top of them. When I mentioned this to the front desk they just looked at me like "ya, they're hard but there's nothing I can do about it". I requested additional pillows but they never came.
The pool is nice and music is groovy, just don't order a soda like I did. My jaw dropped when she told me it was 120 THB, plus 10% service charge and the 7% vat charge it came up to 140 THB. That's like $4 USD for a soda that I watched her crack open the can and then pour into a glass. I'm not cheap, but that's just a crazy price for a soda w/no alcohol! So after that I went to the market down the street for snacks.
We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night. We got dressed up to go out only to go right back to our room. There was loud music playing at the pool at Dream 2 and the main bar at the main building, but no one was there. It was a ghost town.
Pros- close to the sky train, MBK, night market, a 70-80 baht cab ride away from the other side of town where the main attractions are like khao san road, wat arun, and the grand palace. Decor is nice (looks like the Standard hotel or similar to the W). Free internet in the lobby, nice pool.
Cons- Not much to do if you just walked out the door. It's not right on sukumvit road so your first time in the cab will be spent trying to make a U turn to find it. It's a few blocks down soi 15. It is not visible from the main road. Sodas are a gip and my bed was too hard. I thought that it would be more happening on a weekday. The shopping area isn't that great. The night market had the best shopping. I saw the more homeless people and stray dogs in this area.

“Really great service”

Stayed 4 nights at about $90 USD per night booked through expedia.com. The decor is very modern, if a little tacky, and everything looked nice and new and smelled fresh (that's a big deal for us). Staff was extremely helpful and seemed to genuinely want to help and was not just searching for tips. We did end up tipping a little to the gratuity fund that is shared among all the employees, and a little to a few individuals who gave us extra or exceptional service.

Room was very comfortable, and was the cleanest that we stayed in during our 4 weeks in Thailand and Laos. The blue lights and mirrors were a cool effect, if a little bit cheesy. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were some of the nicest we have found anywhere--if they sold them in the US we would definitely buy them! The only complaint about the room really was that it was a little on the small side.

Contrary to other reviewers, our breakfasts were generally very good. We ate at both Flava and the Dream2 rooftop/poolside cafe. The food was tasty and presented nicely, and the staff had no problem confirming that our breakfast was included when we booked through expedia. We also got a very nice chocolate cake with a "Happy Honeymoon" message delivered to our room unexpectedly. It wasn't the room upgrade we had hoped for, but it a nice touch and very tasty.

Location on Sukhumvit was pretty good, about a 5 minute walk to either Nana or Asok station. Lots of good places to eat nearby, some street vendors for shopping along Sukhumvit, and short skytrain rides to get anywhere in the city. Would definitely stay again.

“Good Hotel, but one of the best in Bangkok?”

Dream Bangkok

My expectations were very high given all the good reviews. It's not a bad place, but, from my point of view, there are many excellent hotels in Bangkok, which are better located and have larger rooms.
Bangkok Dream are actually two hotels: Dream and Dream 2, which has the rooftop pool and restaurant. I stayed in Dream 2. Lobby is quite small. Unless your room is in one of the higher floors, your room view may be the next building only a few meters away. Rooms are quite small. Kingsize bed barely large enough for two people.
Wireless internet connections were slow and often, there was no reception at all in the rooms (fixed line available, too). Nice but small bathroom; I had only a shower. Pool on top of Dream 2 is quite small with many deck chairs beeing reserved by guests from early morning. Good breaksfast buffet.
It's a bit far from entertainment places; nothing close by really. Staff didn't speak good english; quite a few misunderstandings. Had a table reserved at a restaurant by the concierge. When I came to the restaurant; the place was closed.
Compared to other hotels in Bangkok, staff wasn't overly friendly or helpful.
On many booking websites "complimentary breakfast" is advertised, but when you check-in, they tell you you have to pay nevertheless. Spent 1/2 hour on the phone with hotel.com to sort that out as hotel staff was not really helpful.
During my stay adjacent rooms were renovated, which caused quite a lot of noise.

I usually stay at the riverside hotels - Hilton, Peninsula (when it was still affordable) as well as serviced apartments like Ascott in Sathorn. First time in Sukhumvit area and it is very convenient.

We got a real bargain at US$90/night on a 3rd part website but booked a month in advance and for this price, i would definitely stay again.

Service was good from bellboys/concierge but breakfast was average which is no big deal as i wanna be hungry for nice Thai lunches!! Very comfortable bed and sheets (definitely comparable with the 5 star hotels) and although room is small, did not really feel so. nice big flat screen TV and DVD player as well.

I am in the love with the Sukhumvit area (near many spas and the shopping areas that I would frequent) and thus would not return to the Riverside hotels unfortunately

“Extremely great value for a Boutique hotel at $85”

Dream Bangkok

Stayed at the dream 2 hotel in a standard room on the 4th floor. The location was great and in walking distance to the skytrain station. The rooms themselves were above average with a very modern decor and comfortable bed. The bathroom had a cool design, but not practical as the water from the shower leaked all over the floor.

The included breakfast was good which included fresh tropical fruit and juices, coffee/tea, assorted breads and omelets with steamed spinach.

The only thing that was really wrong about this place was the loud disco on Friday and Saturday nights. Having just arrived from a 14 hour flight and wanting to just get some sleep, the disco continued to pump the music till around 1am. From the 4th floor, it was literally shaking the bed from the vibration. After phoning downstairs to reception about the noise, I was simply informed "too bad, it goes on until 1am". If your going to stay at this hotel, definitely request an higher floor if you want to get to sleep early.

If you can get a rate < $100 USD, this hotel is definitely worth it!
