“Stayed in better 2* hotels”

Landmark Bangkok

Well, where to start.
The arranged Limo pick up from the airport failed to pick us up, takes 30 minutes on the phone to eventually be told we might as well 'just get a taxi'.
Finally get to the hotel and there's a constant banging noise and can hardly hear what the receptionist is saying. Get given a voucher for a meal to say sorry for the problems, the voucher was for either the Japanese or the Thai restaurant, both of which have been closed down 3 months ago, we were then told we could use the voucher in the courtyard restaurant but that closed at 6 (an hour ago).
When you first get out of the lift you see how badly this hotel needs renovating, the carpets are stained, the walls dirty and then you get into your room and again it looks like it hasn't been decorated for 20 years. The room was disgusting it hadn't been cleaned properly, the cupboards we're falling apart and the safe wouldn't shut.
When trying to complain on the phone I couldn't find anyone who understood me and when going to the reception to make a complaint I was told that the General manager was away for 3 days and could arrange for me to speak to him when he got back (this was the same person who had booked me in for 2 nights half hour previous). Upon asking who I could speak to sooner I was told the Manager was busy having dinner.
Having stupidly paid for 2 nights in advance we spent as little time as possible in the hotel, we love Bangkok and will definatly return again but not to The Landmark!
Also be aware anyone with families, the majority of The Landmarks guests are here for the seedy side of the city and the hotel turns into a brothel at night. My wife joked that maybe they hire the rooms by the hour.

“Good tourist hotel”

Landmark is a very good tourist hotel in a very central location, within walking distance from a lot of things and right next to a sky train station. Rooms are very clean and somewhat compact. Breakfast is excellent, as is all service at the hotel. Pool area leaves room for improvement, but I guess most people do not come to Bangkok to sit by the pool.

“Rooms, Service & Location Superb However families be cautioned”

Rooms, Service and location are all superb. Across the road from the Hotel Muslim travellors can get Halal food. Not one but 6-7 restaurant options. There are few arabic restaurants and other halaal oriental restaurant.

Internet is paid and a bit expensive, around 15-20 dollars a day. A subway shop next to the hotel gives free wireless internet with food and coffee.

I do agree with terry's earlier comment that the hotel does nothing to discourage prostitutes. Being with family it can be a little awkwards and obviously uncomfortable to see sleezy young prostitutes coming alongside old guys/or young guys for that matter, but wht i mean is with old guys its pretty apparent. This is the only drawback of an otherwise very good hotel.

“Great stopover hotel”

Landmark Bangkok

May 7, 2008

I just stayed here for one night on a stopover. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, as were the bathrooms.

The pool area is nice and you can use the fitness first gym adjoined, although i didnt get time to take advantage of this.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

I didnt try any of the restaurants, I was hoping to go to the Thai restaurant but apparently it wasnt open as the lift door opened up to wooden boards so i couldnt get out... Not sure if they were renovating but found an ok thai restaurant across the road.

The location is ok, there are some night markets in the street and restaurants, however being a young woman who likes shopping I didnt find I had much to do during the day. Having stayed at the Pathumwan Princess previously which had access to MBK, here I ended up spending most of my time at the hotel.

If you have time to get out and about and catch the skytrain elsewhere, instead of being limited to whats whats within walking distance, then the hotel is fantastic.

“Even better the second time!”

Landmark Bangkok

Apr 23, 2008

We stayed at the Landmark 2 years ago and loved it, so when we decided to visit Bangkok again the only hotel we wanted to stay in was the Landmark. If anything it was even better the second time! Staff so friendly, doors opened for you, even the lift called for you! Laundry service excellent, right down to when they delivered it back to your room. Out of the many restaurants the Landmark has we prefered the Pub in the basement. The staff must love to work there as we recognised several of them from two years ago. Excellent service. Nightly live entertainment and the food was cooked to perfection. We were really spoilt and enjoyed every minute of it! Definitely will visit again.
