The Landmark is first class in terms of service, comfort and location. Based on Sukhumvit road in the heart of Bangkok's business district the local streets are bustling and vibrant. We booked through an agent for our 3 night stay and having spoken to some ex pats this is the best way to obtain the cheapest rates at this hotel.
ROOMS
As honeymooners we were upgraded to a deluxe suite on the 25th floor, and received fresh flowers and a cake . The suite consisted of a separate lounge / study with a sofa and coffee table, writing desk, mini bar and complimentary water which was quickly replenished if used. The bedroom had a kingsize double bed with chair, television, phone and internet access and the bathroom included a very generous walk in shower (big enough for two) a bath tub, sink and fitted wardrobe with safe. The little extras included staples like soap, shampoo and conditioner but they also had a toothbrush and paste and cotton buds which were both very handy for a short stay.
SERVICE / STAFF
Staff at the Landmark were impeccably dressed and maintained a perfect balance of good service and professionalism. There is someone to tender to your every need and concierge staff are available to assist in any travel arrangements should you require.
POOL
Absolutely loved the pool and sunbathing areas, they provided a great tranquil haven from all the hustle and bustle with a very professionally run towel distribution service and professionally run pool bar.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
There is a plethora of choice with the hotel offering restaurants serving simple snack foods, eat all you like ribs on the 31st floor and first class Chinese as recommended by our Thai guide. We enjoyed Thai food in the on street restaurant and found this first class, beware of drinks prices though, this is a premier hotel and drinks are premier prices, it cost us around £16 for 4 drinks (lager) which is way above that paid elsewhere in bangkok.. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent with a good buffet selection of high quality food, accompanied by excellent service.
TRANSPORT
With a Sky train station less than 2 minutes walk away this is by far the easiest way of getting around. A 1 day ticket valid to midnight costs around 220bht per person and allows unlimited use of the network we visited the Paragon shopping plaza and then later used it to visit Cabbages and Condoms which is definitely worth a visit.
If you don't fancy the sky train simply step outside the hotel and the porter will call you a taxi to any destination you wish this is metered and very cheap with a 30 - 40 min taxi ride costing less than 50bht however beware Bangkok traffic is hectic to say the least "rush hour" begins at dawn and ends about 10pm with little let up in between so even a relatively short trip can take a long time.
SUMMARY
We will definitely come back to Bangkok and I would love to use the Landmark again.
