“Nice stay, but nothing worth walking nearby”

Montien Riverside Hotel

Didn't choose this hotel by choice because hotel is included at part of travel tour package, but our guide was able to get us a suite one night. The place is too big for us to use, but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom was amazing! Never stayed in a suite, so this is quite a treat - jacuzzi style tub with window view of sun and river. Also stayed in a standard room, which is not as fancy but equally comfortable and clean as well. Breakfast buffet selection at this hotel is one of the better ones, taste pretty good.

Location is a big downside - nothing worth walking nearby, not very safe walking at night. Hotel lobby has strange odor, but not in the rooms. Not my choice of hotel because too far from good food and attractions.

“Great hotel, lovely staff, but 30mins outside the centre of Bangkok”

Montien Riverside Hotel

This hotel is really lovely, the hotel staff are all very helpful although beware, any phonecalls concierge make for you e.g booking restaurants etc they will charge you for. The breakfast isn't cheap, I think about £9 and it's not amazing. The bacon is "american" style streaky and the sausages are "german" style. But all in all I couldn't complain.

This hotel is situated in the business district, there is a free shuttle bus to their sister hotel the Montien which is right opposite a night market in the heart of Bangkok and the action. I think this runs every half hour but if you want to stay out particularly late at night you might come a cropper. It is also advisable to book your place on this.

As it is slightly out of the centre, the rooms a pretty big for a city hotel. The bathroom was also lovely with a separate bath and shower. In terms of how grand it is, it is worth it's star rating although it is nothing compared to the Oriental, Peninsular, Shangrilar etc. Although because it isn't as big as these hotels, service is more personal. The surrounding area isn't also as bleak!

Would recommend!!

“One of te Best”

We were originally booked in for 2 nights hoping to chill out before our return to Malta (12 hours). However due to other circumstances we stayed there for 8 nights.

My first impressions of the hotel were up to expectations. The Atrium was beyond belief, the staff were very attentive, polite, which was to be expected with a 5* hotel. The client was treated as a first class citizen coming first in all aspects. Nothing was too much for them.

The restaurants were great and menus were varied with a wide choice of dishes to whet the appetite whatever your requirements.

We would certainly stay at this hotel if ever we visited Bangkok.

Highly recommended.

“Montien Riverside a hit!”

Montien Riverside Hotel

I stayed in this hotel for two nights in late March. This was my first time in Bangkok. I had booked an executive suite which had excellent views up and down river. Very good standard of accommodation. The hotel is very grand. Breakfast was a choice of the continental breakfast on the executive floor with great views (this room was never busy) or in the general dining room downstairs (which I did not try). The hotel is down river from the city centre and a bit removed from the busyness of all the general Bangkok mayhem! There are shuttle buses to facilitate travellers to the skytrain and the sister hotel the Montien. Taxis are also plentiful and cheap. In summary, this is a great choice of hotel for someone who wants a quiet stylish hotel on the river but within striking distance of the city centre attractions. Recommended.

“A lovely hotel - not so good location”

We stayed at the Montein Riverside Hotel, Bangkok for 4 nights in Feb 2008 as part of a 3 week trip around Thailand.

The hotel is lovely, it has a very grand entrance hall and has loads of restaurants to choose from. There was a Chinese, Italian, International restaurant, Thai and also a bakery. I think there may have been one more too! Generally the food was very good and was pretty good value for money too. The rooms are big and bright (maybe slightly dated) but very clean and spacious.

The pool area in the hotel is lovely and you can also sit out by the river and have drinks or dinner, which is a lovely touch. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

The only slight downside of this hotel is it's location. It's not located in central Bangkok (which is great if you don't want to be in the middle of the hectic city, i.e. if you are away on business). However, if you are in Bangkok as a tourist this may not be the hotel for you! The hotel does however, offer an excellent, free shuttle bus service into Bangkok (it takes around 20-25 minutes). This service is really frequent (around once an hour during off peak and every half an hour during peak times).

A lovely hotel, but if you don't have much time in Bangkok I would recommend that you stay in a more central location (i.e. it's sister hotel in central Bangkok).
