“Fantastic five star hotel !”

This hotel is truly a five star hotel in all sence... You get service like a royal and everything is perfect and as you wished..

You can even choose at the breakfast what kind of fresh fruits you want your juice made of and then they make it freshly for you !

The reception and door boys are very kind and helpsome and truly gives the service of a five star hotel.

The lobby and hotel rooms are stunningly beautiful and the rooms quite large and with a really nice view over the city !

Only flaw is the small pool area but then you are in Bangkok a cultural and shopping paradise, so you never get time to use the pool and it is okay if you do..

We would definately recommend this hotel and the location is awesome. Just in the shopping and bar area ! And public transport is excellent from this hotel for seeing Bangkok !

“Great Hotel, friendly staff”

Stayed for 2 nights this April, and enjoyed it very much. The staff was very polite and helpfull, and the 2 restaurants had amazing dishes.
It's near the Patpong Market (amazing place), and it's very cheap to take a cab from the hotel to the major city atractions. Pick the green and yellow taxi, with ac, that costs you 2 eur for a 15m ride!!

Great choice...

“Lovely Hotel in a good location”

Sofitel Silom Bangkok

I have just returned from 2 stays at the Sofitel in Bangkok and have to say I was really impressed with what I found. It was the first time I had stayed with Sofitel so wasn’t 100% sure what to expect but I wasn't disappointed with what I found.
I can still smell the fresh Lotus flowers and the scent of jasmine cent as I walked in to the hotel!!!!!
All the staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble.
The Hotel itself is modern and very clean, the rooms are of adequate size and the beds were some of the best I’ve slept in at a hotel.
The hotel is on the Silom road which is not the most picturesque but it is in a convenient location, the sky train is only a 5 minute walk away and everything you want attraction or shopping wise is only a short taxi ride away.
When we were there we ate at a couple of lovely restaurants. The most local ones were Ban Chiang which is just behind the Holiday Inn on Silom road (about a 10-15 Min walk away). It serves traditional Thai food and the food is lovely and really inexpensive to, we went there a couple of times as we were really impressed with it, you can sit outside or inside in the old style Colonial house.
The two other restaurants we went to and would recommend are the Mango tree which is a 10 minute walk away, again serves traditional Thai food at very reasonable prices and with good services. The other restaurant is a must see even for the Décor and is called Cabbages & Condoms, this restaurant is a 10 minute taxi ride away from the hotel and if you ask the concierge at the Sofitel he will book a table there for you. I won’t ruin the surprise as to what the décor is like but I would say take your camera!! The food is really good and is inexpensive to.
For the Shopaholics in you, a short Sky train or Taxi drive away is the Silom Centre which is basically the start of a load of amazing shopping Malls with shops ranging from up market designer to the inexpensive department stores, we spent hours there and could have easily spent days!!
A couple of tips I would give is that before booking any trips speak to the hotel concierge as there were 6 of us in our party and he managed to hire us a mini bus and driver for the day at a very reasonable price. The driver took us anywhere we wanted to go and is basically at your disposal to stay as long as you like where ever you want to go, we found this far better than booking trips which worked out more expensive and are on a fixed timetable.
The other tip is that if you want some good jewellery to take home, on the Silom road before the Holiday Inn is the Jewellery Centre which is massive (Around 5 floors of respectable Jewellery stores). We bought some custom made jewellery from M Kul Gems on the first floor as you walk in. The couple that run this place were really helpful and impartial and nothing was too much trouble.
If I went back to Bangkok, which I probably will one day, I would definitely stay at the Sofitel again as it is in a great location and it was a really good hotel.

Standard chain hotel, clean comfortable and quite spacious .Wifi access has to be paid for in the room ($10/24 hours), upgrading can get this thrown in as part of the package. Hotel food is expensive but other restaurants are available nearby. A Deposit safe is provided. Turning left out of the main entrance will get you to the night market, first stall about 20 meters away. The Metro is left down to the lights cross to the other side then cross again at right angles and keep going, you will see the sign. Try to avoid looking as you are lost the touts etc are about. The concierge can provide you with a map. Once you know the way then moving around from here by Metro or ferry is quite easy and cheap. Change for the train can be obtained at the station. There are 2 ferries a private (Orange boat ) and the public ferry this one stops at all jetties the Orange boat maybe at only tourist stops. The public boat is cheaper.

“Very, Very, Very BAD service ever received in a Hotel”

Sofitel Silom Bangkok

Apr 20, 2008

I did not stay at that property, lucky me!!!. A friend of mine who lives in Bangkok invited me for a drink at the Bar. Prior to going to the Bar I left 2 suites at the Concierge upon my arrival to the hotel.
I was refused the entrance at the Bar at 6 PM because I was not dressed with in suite (excuse me, I was on vacation). I was wearing a nice short and Polo. Nevertheless, I went back to reception to collect my 2 suites that I left with the concierge upon entering the lobby of the hotel. At that time, I was given a ticket that would enable me to collect my luggage after the relaxing drink at the Bar. You know now, that I never got this relaxing moment since I was refused the entrance of the Bar!!. Anyway, I handed out to the concierge my ticket and it was clear to me that he could not trace my 2 suites that I left with him 10 minutes ago. Finally, concierge found my suites, folded in two under a bellboy trolley, on the floor in the lobby area. I thought that I was dying!!!. I was shocked about the poor service and the little respect that Sofitel’s employees have for customer’s belongings. A real disaster, no wonder that Sofitel needs urgently a review of their service level….good luck for this Management Team… a lot of work ahead…
