“Excellent Hotel - Great Location”

InterContinental Bangkok

We stayed here twice this month, at the beginning and end of our time in SEA.

The hotel's location is just excellent, the skytrain is just at the hotel door, as is the skywalk that connects the hotel to a moltitude of shopping malls (Erawan, Central World, Siam Paragon). The hotel is also directly connected to Gaysorn Mall.

We stayed in a club room which had just recently been refurbshed and was lovely. The soundproofing is a bit iffy - noise from the corridor is clealry audibel and one night we were woken up by our neighbours having... a good time. The room was large, spotless and comfortable.

The lounge on 37th floor is pleasant and service agreeable. Breakfast and drinks are speedy and staff is pleasant.

The congierge in the main lobby deserve a special mention. They all spoke impeccable english, knew just about any restruant or location we mentioned and offered to book places and provide directions to places. On two occasions our taxi got lost and we called the hotel congierce who spoke to the driver and directed him!!!

The pool on the top floor is smallish but nice enough though we never spent any real time there. The gym looked pretty good.

All in all a top hotel choice and would certainly stay here again.

“In my top 5 of Hotel stays”

I spent 3 nights at the Intercontinental Bangkok after a 3 week long backpacking trip through Thailand and Laos.

The hotel didn't bat an eye when I showed up with a filthy backpack and looking disheveled after staying in guesthouses for the earlier 3 weeks. A true test of a hotel is that they treated me like royalty even though I looked nothing like it.

My regular room was large, with a great view of the city and skytrain. The bathroom was to die for with a full size tub and a separate shower with a rain-style shower head.

Location was great, walking distance to the many giant malls and to the wonderful Lingham Shrine (that everyone should go hunt for behind a nearby hotel--trust me on this).

The Bangkok Intercontinental is one of the top hotels I've ever stayed at; stellar service, all amenities available, and a spotless room.

“Great Hotel and Location”

I stayed at this hotel while on a business trip to Bangkok. You notice the size of the lobby as soon as you walk in - five star impression for sure, and expect five star prices.

The hotel staff was very friendly everywhere. As a Priority Club member, I was upgraded to a nicer room. It was indeed very nice, a good sized room, a very comfortable bed, a very large modern bathroom, safe, slippers, fruit bowl, bath robe, etc.. I had a great view out of my window. I was very happy with everything in the room. The price of the room at >$220/night was high, but probably expected, given the location. It was situated in the heart of a modern shopping area, with lots of high class stores and restaurants. The metro stop and skywalk were right outside the door, so you could get around very easily, also.

Breakfast was a very extensive buffet, with made to order food and very international selection. However, the price of the breakfast was pretty steep.

The exercise room was also very nice. Well equipped and plenty of it.

All-in-all a very nice place to stay, but a bit pricey.

“If money doesn't matter....”

The intercontinental is a very nice hotel, but I wouldn't say it was twice as nice as the Grand Millenium, which cost about half as much. Location is probably bit better with the huge shopping malls very nearby if you want that. Rooms are good, large, very nice bathrooms, nice little gadget that will play your ipod through the TV too. The afternoon tea/lunch buffet was a bit ordinary, but room service food was great. Pool area is a little disappointing - considering it is on the top of the hotel, they could play on the view a bit more rather than totally block it. But generally this is a class hotel, bit pricey, but other than that, very hard to fault.

My husband and I traveled to Bangkok on a last-minute trip and chose the InterCon based on its location. The reviews seemed as though it were more suited for business travelers but that is far from the case. This hotel is located in one of the absolute best spots for touring the city. The entrance to the SkyTrain is literally out the front door, which makes getting around very easy. Siam City with its great shopping is just next door and there are plenty of wonderful restaurants across the street. The hotel is going through a renovation process and the newer rooms are modern and beautiful. We called the front desk to let them know there was a minor drainage problem in our shower. After returning from sightseeing, they delivered a bottle of wine to our room for our inconvenience. Bangkok is known for amazing service but this hotel went above and beyond. My husband and I travel the world and stay in many different hotel chains and this was one of the best experiences we have ever had. The concierge was wonderful in suggesting restaurants and setting up private tours. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend the InterCon for your travels to Bangkok.
