The intercontinental is a very nice hotel, but I wouldn't say it was twice as nice as the Grand Millenium, which cost about half as much. Location is probably bit better with the huge shopping malls very nearby if you want that. Rooms are good, large, very nice bathrooms, nice little gadget that will play your ipod through the TV too. The afternoon tea/lunch buffet was a bit ordinary, but room service food was great. Pool area is a little disappointing - considering it is on the top of the hotel, they could play on the view a bit more rather than totally block it. But generally this is a class hotel, bit pricey, but other than that, very hard to fault.

My husband and I traveled to Bangkok on a last-minute trip and chose the InterCon based on its location. The reviews seemed as though it were more suited for business travelers but that is far from the case. This hotel is located in one of the absolute best spots for touring the city. The entrance to the SkyTrain is literally out the front door, which makes getting around very easy. Siam City with its great shopping is just next door and there are plenty of wonderful restaurants across the street. The hotel is going through a renovation process and the newer rooms are modern and beautiful. We called the front desk to let them know there was a minor drainage problem in our shower. After returning from sightseeing, they delivered a bottle of wine to our room for our inconvenience. Bangkok is known for amazing service but this hotel went above and beyond. My husband and I travel the world and stay in many different hotel chains and this was one of the best experiences we have ever had. The concierge was wonderful in suggesting restaurants and setting up private tours. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend the InterCon for your travels to Bangkok.

“Very helpful bell hops”

During my stay at the Intercontinental, we were given a large number of gifts by our friends. Amongst them were a large bunch of silk flowers that were about 5 feet in length as well as a flower vase. We spoke to the bell hop who brought our luggage to our room and asked whether he could help us get a box to store all these to make it easier for check-in. When we checked out, we found that the flowers and vase had been securely wrapped in bubble-wrap. They had also found another box to store other extra stuff we had.

It's one of the hotels with IPod docks that enable you to listen to your Ipod thru the TV.

As the location is near a Skytrain station, it makes it easy to get to most of the tourist spots in Bangkok. Plenty of shopping malls and restaurants within walking distance. An ideal location for business and relaxation.

“Fanastic time at the InterContinental”

InterContinental Bangkok

We stayed at the Intercontinental in March 2007 and could not fault anything. The hotel is perfectly situated right next to the Skytrain and close to the shopping centres. Our room was very spacious with everything you required. The breakfast was superb with masses of choice. The staff were always courteous and helpful. We made use of the rooftop pool at the end of each busy day. We did participate in some retail therapy but spend most of our days sightseeing. We had dinner at Vertigo, the view was amazing but it wasnt the best meal we had ever had and we did feel slightly rushed. Next time I think I would just enjoy a few drinks at the bar. We also enjoyed a fantastic buffet at one of the hotels along the river. I have never seen so much food!!! There was every possible cuisine you could imagine - Italian, Sushi, BBQ, Thai, seafood...........

We loved Bangkok and hope to return again.

“Very Nice Hotel - Great Location with Nice Rooms”

Short Review: Great location, very good rooms. Much better than the Holiday Inn next door - if you can afford the higher rate at the IC, choose it by far above the HI.

Long Review: Stayed here for a week. The great location is mentioned before - you just hop on the BTS just outside the door. Siam Paragon and that area is just a short 10-min walk on the sky bridge.

The rooms are very nice, but I was in two different rooms - - and in the same class (rates), there can be significant differences between them.

There is currently construction going on - the fliers we got said the rest of the year. This may limit the flexibility to get a preferred room (e.g., high floor).

The service is very good, but not excellent (sometimes slow and sometimes varied by staff).... not at 5-star level. For example, the Banyan Tree has better responses to guest request. So, the service is very good, but could be better to reach a true 5-star level.

Overall, this is a very good hotel and I would recommend it.
