With this hotel you can get really great rooms or not so great rooms. I've stayed there three nights in three different rooms (three different reservations).

First night: room was on 9th, rather dirty with lots of stains on the carpet, bed moved horizontally very easily. Lots of A/C noise through the window facing out to the pool (windows are not even remotely sound proof).

On the second night I got upgraded to a newly renovated suite on 12th floor. Everything was new, except for the windows: still A/C noise through the window facing the pool, but I was used to that by now. It was a great room overall.

The third night was a standard room on 14th floor. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. The door faced the buffet area and was not even remotely sound-proof (you can even see whether the light is on in the room or not when passing the doors as there is a large slit on the top and the bottom). The windows were the same, but they didn't face the pool area without A/C noise.

My advice: make a reservation for a newly renovated room. They are more expensive, but it's worth it.

Heard some bad reviews about Asiaworld hotel, but find them to be WRONG after our 3 nite stay . We booked 3 rooms , and stayed at the 12th floor.all rooms are clean, complimentary toiletries and bottled water are provided everyday. Airconditioning is ok. Buffet breakfast is included in our room package, and has a wide selection of food. The staff at the front desk and concierge speaks english, and are very helpful and accomodating. No noise heard inside the room. Asiaworld shopping mall is right beside the hotel, although, didn't find the shops interesting; but the food court at the basement has lots of variety to choose from, and the price range of the food outlets are reasonable. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Having stayed in several holiday inn hotels in U.S., I must say that I was very impressed by the setting and clever design of this hotel from the beginning. The hotel was carefully nested in a high class shopping plaza and good restaurants. The buffet place was nicely sitting under the court yard (that was originally designed as an open space). The staff was in white uniforms, very friendly, and spoke English well. The hotel provided free parking spaces to friends coming to visit me, which was extremely conveient in a city very difficult to find a parking spot. Although located in the east side of Taipei, the hotel was only 45 minutes away from CKS airport by taxi. (One more tip for those you care... Take the taxi on the street instead of the hotel lobby.)

On the other hand, the hotel was a bit outdated, right since I walked out the elevaor towards my room. The carpet was old with stains. The room was a bit nosy due to the heavy traffic outside the hotel. I was also waken up by some noise from the ceiling, which I believed was caused by a rat.

After all, I was still able to get a good night sleep, which was what I cared the most.

I am staying in this hotel right now. Plus - good location, reasonable internet price, all amenities, friendly staff etc. BUT, on the MINUS side if you are planning a good (and perhaps earlier say 10PM) sleep you MUST bring ear plugs... It feels no sound proofing of rooms and I find it quite annoying to hear the piano...still at 10:20PM.
