My husband and I stayed at the Riad Tizwa in November 2007 for 7 nights. Daniel, the manager of the Tizwa, sent a driver to meet us at the airport and bring us to the riad, which would have been difficult to find on our own! When we arrived, Daniel met us, checked us in and then stayed and had mint tea and a long chat with us. Our room was on the top floor and was lovely with a very spacious bedroom with lots of room for our belongings and a small, but very adequate bathroom.

Breakfast each morning was fantastic! It was very simple, but tasty, and always more than we could finish. We also had 2 dinners at the Riad, both of which were wonderful with traditional tagines and a delicious Moroccan soup, harira.

The staff was incredible, despite some language difficulties (Daniel is British, but the rest of the staff are Moroccan). My French was pretty rusty, but they always patiently listened and explained things repeatedly, so we could be sure we understood. They arranged two trips out of town for us, one to Essaouira and one to the Atlas Mountains, both on rather short notice, and we were really happy with both. (If you're staying for more than a couple days, I'd highly recommend doing this, since Marrakech can get really crazy and overwhelming after a while.)

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Tizwa, and we would definitely recommend it to our friends!

I spent a few days at the Riad Tizwa with my daughter. We arrived in the night and were picked up from the airport.
Coming into the Riad was such an atmospheric treat. Cold stone floors with rose petals, tinkling fountain, kind faces smiling, offering help and delicious mint tea.
We fell into a deep sleep after looking around the Riad and enjoying the little details.
We woke to exotic calling to prayer then fell back to sleep, we had the delicious breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the maddness of the medina and souks and the calm of the Riad.
We spent the afternoons in an authetic hammam having devine exfoliations and massages which I cannot recommend highly enough.
Wondering how I can find the time to return.....

“Nice relaxing place to stay....”

IF (and I mean IF) you decide Marrakech is the place you'd like to take a holiday, then you can't do wrong to look into staying at Riad Tizwa. Nice room, nice bed, nice bathroom, nice breakfast (which you can order whenever you want) and helpful staff whenever you need them. Lovely little terrace to relax on too. When it gets hotter I think a pool would be nice and there is none at Riad Tizwa so be careful if that is a deciding factor.

My advice is to think it Marrakech is where you want to go, I really wasn't prepared for the stressfulness of being in the markets/ Souks. Being propositioned at every corner and having things chucked in your face isn't my idea of a relaxing holiday. The general atmosphere is choking bad and there really are not many places to get away from the smog / pollution.
There are nice restaurants in the main square (non serving alcohol) and its cheap too (less than £10 no frills) £15-£18 for a three course (for two people).
There really are not many 'sights' to see.
In my opinion it's a desination for no more than 2 days. If you are prepared for the atmosphere of the souks and the big square and are prepared for it, then want a lovely riad to relax you are in the right place, but if you want an all in relaxing break with things to occupy you during the day - I'd look away from Marrakech.

Of course, peoples opinions are their own and I am sure 100's would disagree with my opinion on Marrakech, but as a final note, if you want a nice Riad, Tizwa should be on your list.

“A Wonderful Riad. Definitely stay here!”

Riad Tizwa

My boyfriend and I have just returned from an incredible four days in Marrakech. Our stay in this amazing place was made all the more memorable by the Riad Tizwa.

Upon arrival at Marrakech airport we were met by a driver who took us directly to the riad. As soon as we arrived we knew that we had made the right choice. The staff are so genuinely kind and accommodating. We felt at home immeadiately and came to know each of them by name. I can honestly say that I have never experienced such incredible service at any hotel anywhere in the world.

Our room was divine. Spacious and beautifully decorated with a gorgeous four poster bed that was so, so comfortable. The traditional Moroccan bathroom was absolutely enormous with a fabulous size bathtub. I am a little obsessive about cleanliness and this room (and entire riad) was impeccable.

The breakfast was as good as all of the other reviewers have written. So much good food that you could last on it till dinner that evening. Mineral water was also available in our room on arrival and mint tea was always available.

The staff arranged an amazing day trip into the Atlas mountains for us with very little notice. The staff's local knowledge ensured that we paired with a great driver in a comfortable people-mover. It was a day we will never forget and a must-do for visitors to Marrakech.

One of the greatest things about the Riad Tizwa is Daniel, the hotel manager. He went above and beyond for us, helping us sort out some horrible banking issues and recommending fantastic restaurants. Next time we visit Morocco we will not only stay at the Riad Tizwa in Marrakech, but also plan to stay at Daniel's other riad in Fez.

If you are at all apprehensive about visiting Marrakech, don't be. It is a truly incredible place. I can not recommend the Riad Tizwa enough, you will love it.

“Amazing Stay”

Riad Tizwa

Feb 4, 2008

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the fabulous Riad Tizwa, what a truly amazing place, total calm and relaxation amidst the madness of Marrakech.

The room was beautiful, a four poster bed, spacious, amazing bathroom and beautifully lit.

The Riad itself was total relaxation, from the the day bed in the courtyard, to the relaxing sun terrace where we had breakfast and mint tea.

I can not recommenf this Riad highly enough, a great location right in the Medina, although you have to be a little careful in the souks late at night.

The whole experience was excellent, the staff-nothing was too much trouble, the amazing ambience of the Riad, secong to none, if you travel to Marrakech you have to stay here.!!!!
