“A beautiful oasis”

Riad El Mansour

This was our first time in Marrakech and it was wonderful from the moment we were met at the airport by the ever smiling Mustapha.
Marrakech is chaotic and could almost be described as a bit of a culture shock but we were soon put at ease by Stephen, Robert and the wonderful staff at the riad.
We stayed in room 3 - it was beautiful as was the whole riad particularly at night when all of the candles were lit.
The little touches like the gifts on arrival, fresh fruit and nuts along with mineral water every day, the thickest towels we've ever come across, robes and slippers all made us feel as if we were special guests.
It was lovely to come back to the riad each day after the chaos that is Marrakech - it felt like an oasis in the hustle and bustle that makes Marrakech such an experience.
We really felt that nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were without exception friendly and efficient - Stephen and Robert have managed to create a wonderfully informal atmosphere without compromising on service and standards.
We ate at the riad and also in some fantastic restaurants recommended by the lovely Abdess - the food at the riad easily matches the food at the restaurants (my mouth still waters when I think about the delicious assortment of Moroccan salads at the riad!), sitting on the terrace listening to the call to prayer certainly beats Devon on a rainy June day!!
I indulged in a massage at the riad - wonderful but be aware that the massage may be done by a man, something I hadn't thought to check in advance.
At first the little alleys and streets appeared to be a little overwhelming but we very soon found they are perfectly safe even at night - we soon got used to being approached by local youngsters offering to show us the way, they happily accepted 'Non merci' or 'Pas aujourd'hui'.
If we return to Marrakech we wouldn't hesitate to stay again at the Riad El-Mansour and will certainly be recommending it to friends.

Where does one begin? My trip to Morocco was my most favorite to date and is largely attributed to the Riad El Mansour! I was impressed with previous reviews and the attentiveness I received even before making a reservation! Prior to booking, Abdess answered all questions via email... instantaneously! He is a gracious host and knowledgeable about the city itself /surrounding areas. He provided excellent suggestions, and orchestrated all meals, tours, etc. I could not have been more pleased with such amazing guides (Hakeem and Mustapha)! It is also a huge relief to be greeted at the airport by someone from the riad upon arrival... especially since landing in Marrakech can be a bit overwhelming. Mustapha picked me up at Menara and gave me an overview of the city on our way to the riad. He was also my guide to the Atlas Mountains/Berber Village and is truly an asset to the staff! :)

During my stay, every effort was made to ensure that I was enveloped in sheer luxury. The riad is a great alternative to larger hotels. I loved the fact that you must walk down several streets to make your way to the property. It is charming and central to everything! Magnificent tile, exotic décor and striking architecture enhance one’s experience. My room (No. 2) was beautiful, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was large with all amenities one could desire. Rooms are air-conditioned, which is an absolute "must" in this climate. You may access the internet (free of charge) at the desk near the hotel entrance. All rooms are equipped with a safe, Ipod docking station, and alarm clock. 

I received a plate of Moroccan delicacies, welcome gift and kind note in my room upon arrival. Complimentary bottled water and a delicious dried fruit/nut assortment were provided daily. Breakfast is served each morning on the upper terrace, where you may bask in the sun and experience the rich sounds of Marrakech. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to dine at the riad, but heard rave reviews from other guests.

The Riad El Mansour is a true gem (accurately categorized by Tripadvisor in 2008). My only regret was leaving.

“The Best RIAD in Marrakech, Morocco -- El Riad Mansour, A Rose in the Desert!”

Riad El Mansour

Upon arriving in Morocco, I had originally been booked to stay at Riad Monceau located in the Old Souk area, which had been booked via Expedia.com. However, after traveling more than 30 hours, we arrived at Monceau and were told they had no record of our reservation despite the fact that we had our confirmation in hand and I had email confirmation for dinner that evening (booked a month in advance). You can only imagine our panic and our exhaustion; this is not how we anticipated beginning our vacation!

The front desk at Monceau assured us they would take care of finding a suitable arrangement for our accommodations and that is how serendipity dropped us in the lap of luxury of Riad El Mansour!

Riad El Mansour sent their driver, Mustapha to pick us up and once the doors opened to the hidden beauty of this lovingly restored 200-year old riad we knew that fortune had smiled upon us.

Morocco is a country full of hidden secrets, which makes traveling through this magnificent country so intriguing. Riad El Mansour is a sparkling gem and once the doors open, you are whisked into the Moroccan imaginary of lush palms, scented roses, and a myriad of yellow, pink, fuchsia and orange bougainvillea, exquisite tile work, and rich, exotic textiles and tasteful antiques.

We were warmly greeted by Robert and Stephen the owners of Riad El Mansour, but also by their staff who offered a tour of the facilities and an explanation of the services available to us. Clearly, everyone who is associated with Mansour is proud to be an integral part of this well run, tastefully restored riad that provides subtle, yet incredible service intended to pamper their guests.

Riad El Mansour is ideally located a short walk from important sites such as the Jemaa El-Fna plaza, Les Jardins Marjorelle, Musee Marrakesh, the Guéliz (New Town), and the Ménara. Should you want to taken an outing to the High Atlas Mountains, camel/horseback riding, need guide services, dinner reservations, all you need to do is ask because your requests will be seamlessly arranged.

Marrakesh is a lively, cacophonous city, which is vibrant and exciting, so the serene and tranquil ambience of Riad El Mansour provides a refuge to recharge your soul and a place where you can reflect on the history and magic of your day. One can retreat to the comfort of beautiful rooms that feature local architectural style, as well as handcrafted Moroccan pieces that impart a distinctively old-world opulence. Or you can head to the rooftop terrace and take in the sounds of birds chirping and the views of the Atlas Mountains and sit amongst the plant-life that provides solitude.

Robert and Stephen have placed a high emphasis on attention to detail with rooms that feature fresh fruits and nuts, a sweets platter that highlights local Moroccan delicacies, bottled water to greet each guest daily, bathrooms equipped with robes, slippers, handcrafted Moroccan rose soaps, decanters of rose water and Argon oil, containers of le savon noir (black soap), as well as body soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc. Truly a home away from home, the room has Ipod/MP3 docks, TV/DVD player, safe, WIFI Internet access, A/C and heating--again no detail is spared!!!

The restaurant at El Mansour is magnifique! Once again, ensuring that only the finest ingredients are available to their guests, fresh fruits and vegetables are grown at the owners’ local farm and the in-house chef masterfully prepares delicious entries featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine that is delectable and will leave your palate desiring more of these incredible tastes! The local wine list is also exceptional.

Additionally, an array of facilities focusing on guests’ well-being are available such as massage services, a fitness room, a Jacuzzi, small pool, and a traditional Moroccan Hammam bath.

I cannot emphasis how incredible the hospitality that was provided to us by Robert and Stephen and their entire staff (Mustapha, Abness, Maoud, the cooks, maids, etc.) to ensure that we were well taken care of in their beautiful riad. On our first evening in Marrakesh, recognizing the distance we traveled and our exhaustion, we heard a subtle knock on our door informing us that dinner and wine was awaiting us downstairs. We didn’t have to ask, they instinctively provide service that will leave their guests more than satisfied.

Not only do I look forward to a return trip to El Riad Mansour, I have made new friends in Marrakesh and can honestly say that Robert and Stephen, you are the best! Your staff is incredible too! Beaucoup de merci sincère mes chers amis!

“Fantastic”

Riad El Mansour

5 of 5 stars
London

We stayed at this riad in April for four nights. From our arrival at the airport, being met by the riad's driver, from the time he dropped us back at the airport for our flight home, our experience was fantastic. We were treated like stars. The staff who could not do enough for you are wonderful and very helpful. Abdess who is the manager arranged a guide and taxis for us as well as got us bus tickets for our day trip to Essaourira. I can recommend the bus, Supratours as it only cost 130 dhs return and it is very comfortable and reliable.

Our room was on the ground floor, which we were a bit concerned about regarding noise, but it was fine and as it was next to the plunge pool, it proved a great location as we used it a couple of times after returning back to the riad from our sightseeing and shopping expeditions. There is twice daily maid service which is a real treat! The room is well appointed, beautifully decorated and very clean.

We had dinner at the riad twice, both times being wonderful. We also tried the riad's special package of a hamman and massage that was heaven and it cost less than half of what it would cost in in the UK. For a hamman, you must give a few hours notice, but this is not necessary for a massage.

This is, or should be THE RIAD in Marrakech as we found it certainly lives up to its reviews !!!!

“WONDERFUL Again and Again”

Riad El Mansour

May 11, 2008

Once again my husband and I were very pleased with this hotel, having visited it previously. We returned for a unplanned weekend after securing last minute cheap flights on the now absent from Marrakech BA.

I am very pleased to say that the hotel still lives up to it's reviews, being spotlessly clean, friendly and amasingly helpful.
Just as we remembered it. Bravo to the owners, Robert and Stephen and staff for not sitting on their laurels. The manager, Abdess is a star!!

Dinner the first night was as delicious as we remembered and highly recommended. We requested dinner while still the UK, but this is not necessary. The second night we ate at a new restaurant that Stephen recommend called the Biz, about a ten minute taxi ride away in Gueliz which served very good provincial French food.

I think the owners have it down perfect, small hotel and therefore apparently manageable, very clean, efficiently run by what appears to be a very good team, friendly, and most of all, helpful. Nothing seems too much for these guys. They arranged for me to go horse riding in a Berber village while my husband was taken to play a round of golf. After our return to the hotel, we had a hamman and a much deserved massage.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel which I do over and over again to friends and work colleagues. A perfect place in a very hectic, but exotic city.
