“Nice, but some problems”

We spent three nights last March at Dar Charkia. Our Room, the Berber Suite, was comfortable and the riad itself is well decorated and is kept clean. The staff was friendly and Lisa, the owner, was very accommodating. The location in the Medina is good but we needed to walk through a very dark alley to get to the riad and it was a bit scary at night. When walking back to Dar Charkia, we run twice into a group of kids who kept begging us for money and when we refused they got very aggressive, shouting and cursing. I understand that this is not something the accommodation could control but it nonetheless made our experience less enjoyable.

“Beautiful haven”

Dar Charkia

Jul 8, 2008

I stayed at the Dar Charkia in may this year with a few friends, we were made very welcome and even before we had put are bags down we were offered refreshments that were very tasty.
The riad is so luxurious and has a very relaxing and tranqui atmosphere. Our room was facing the plunge pool very refreshing when you have been tanning all day!
In the evening there is candles and lanterns all around the pool which shows off the beauty of the Dar Charkia.
We spent most of our time on top of the roof terrace which is the best sun trap for a perfect golden tan.
lisa and Richard are very helpful and have lots of evenings planned for your stay, they put you in touch with the best restaurants true moroccan style from traditional belly dancing to modern cool cocktail bars.
I would recommend this riad to anyone it certainly made my experience of Marrakech an enjoyable and rememberable holiday.
Many thanks from the docker rockers.

“Chic Riad - An Oasis Of Calm In Heart Of Marrakesh”

Dar Charkia

Jul 7, 2008

Dar Charkia was more than my wife and I expected; much much more. With only six rooms and just about as many staff on hand there was plenty of space, excellent service yet lots of privacy when you wanted it. The sun terrace for breakfast was fabulous as was sitting in the court yard beside the plunge pool drinking wine in the evening. The hospitality was outstanding and this was in no small part due to the most welcoming and attentive staff and attention to detail. The guidance and travel/shopping tips from the owners Lisa and Micheal ensured that we got the most out of our short but memorable four night stay.

This riad is packed with local character; fabulous, stylish and quality décor. Dar Charkia is indeed an oasis of peace and tranquility. You will love it.

Dar Charkia

After staying in three different riads across Morocco we realised how helpful the information that Lisa gave upon our arrival on shoppping prices and where to go was. None of the other riads offered such information. It made our stay in Marrakech very enjoyable and made sure we were charged reasonable prices for petit taxis etc. The riad itself is lovely and the staff are very helpful.

“Fabulous space for a break from this hectic city”

Dar Charkia

Jul 2, 2008

This was a gorgeous little riad with fab location within the medina. It was 50 degrees (in the shade!) and I wasn't coping well with the heat so was fabulous to have a great space to "go home" to and a dip in the plunge pool which chilled me out completely.

Lisa and Michael are great. We organised our room accomodation, transfers, 2 night Saharan excursion and first two nights of restaurant bookings (with help from Lisa) even before we landed. They can provide as much or little help you need (depending on what kinda of traveler you are). We got picked up when we arrived, greeted as soon as we got off the taxi and then given a comprehensive briefing (with all the insiders knowledge) on the city.

With only 6 or so rooms, its an intimate setting with many little areas you can chill out/read etc

Would highly recommend this riad.
