We had an excellent stay at this Riad. From beginning to end, everything went as planned. Jean Patrick made every effort to help us make the most out of our visit and his staff were exceptionally warn, welcoming and professional (trilingual!) The Riad is beautifully decorated and a real oasis of calm in the Medina. Its location is ideal - central but in a safe and easily accessible place. It was definitely worth taking Jean Patrick's offer of a lift from the airport as it would have been difficult to find it on our own the first time (after that it was easy). Jean Patrick also offered us a meal on the first night and this was excellent too. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to any of our friends. We booked it through the riads morrocco website but next time would go direct to Jean Patrick's own site. This place really lives up to its promise. Can't fault it. We also stayed at Riad Watier in Essaouria which was fantastic.

“Our peacful space in the Medina”

We stayed with Jean Patrick for 5 nights. We stayed in two rooms as he did his best to accommodate us at short notice. The first being the Sun Terrace room which was heaven for me. On the roof we had loads of space and privacy plus the advantage to be able to walk out directly onto the terrace and see the wonderful view of Marrakesh by 'roof top'. As Dar Silsila is situated a stones throw from Koutoubia, I enjoyed hearing the calls for pray and we where so close to everything it was easy to access the Medina, to get out into the new modern city and beyond with ease. The staff where very friendly, helpful and looked after us making our stay very comfortable. We love the ambiance of this Dar and the attention to detail with the decor makes it somewhere we are happy to relax around in. It is not our first stay here and is by no means our last.

“Special service in a great location”

We stayed at this delightful riad for a short break in May. We arranged to be collected from the airport and after walking through a dark narrow alley we entered the beautiful courtyard of the hotel. We had an attractive suite that was stylishly decorated in traditional moroccan style. The bathroom had colourful tiles but like others have commented, the shower was a little old fashioned. Jean Patrick was amazingly helpful. He recommended restuarants and even took us to an establishment that was outside of the city. He made suggestions that were accurate and interesting about sightseeing. We paid in cash but this was not an issue for us - infact it was helpful to get some dirhams without having to go to the bank. We had dinner at the riad on our first and last night. The food was fabulous - excepting one restuarant - it was far superior to eating in the city proper. Additionally, we could have a bottle of wine with our meal. We had lovely breakfasts of yogurt and flatbreads. The location is very good; just a couple of minutes walk from the souks and square. Even though ithe hotel is hidden down a dark and narrow alley, we never felt unsafe. Marrakech is an interesting and exotic city, the sights in Jemaa al-Fnaa are facinating. We were concerned that we might get a lot of harrassment but infact this was not an issue. It is a holy city and so you have to be alert to local sensitivities but aside from the alcohol there were no problems. Incidently you can get a drink at the Grand Tazi which is about 500m from the square. This is an 'interesting' experience full of colourful characters!! We had a great time in Marrakech and can throughly recommend the city and the riad.

“Great location, good price”

Great riad run by owner who's always present to be of service. He's always ready to dispense advice, take care of housekeeping stuff (e.g., picking up bus tickets for us, booking activities, etc.), and even provide medication to sick guests.

Rooms were great as was the location - a few minutes' walk from the famous Marrakech souks and Jemaa al-Fnaa. The rooms in the new addition in the back are even better than the older ones in the front.

My only knocks are: (1) payment is cash only, which is inconvenient though not impossible; and (2) most showers don't come with curtains, which causes even the most cautious shower user to wet the bathroom floor. This latter practice appears to be the norm in Morocco. However, most customers at this Riad are American, so a slight modification would make life much easier.

Highly recommended for young couples and folks interested in traditional architecture.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Marrakech and were very happy with our accommodation. We chose Riad Silsila because its reviews were very good. We booked 2 standard deluxe rooms which were clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and very tranquil. The owner of this lovely Riad , Jean Patrick was flexible, pleasant and accommodated all our requests. His staff were always available, polite and helpful. We would most certainly return to this Riad and would highly recommend it.
