We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on our way from
KC to Minneapolis. I booked it through Destination Rewards. Check-in was pretty easy, although the front desk clerk didn't know we had pre-paid for the room. We didn't want any holds on our cc, so we asked her to turn off the incidentals on our room, which she did. The hotel is only 3-1/2 months old, so everything is nice and new. We had a executive room #211 with a king size bed. The beds are comfortable, a little soft for our taste, but we slept fairly well. You get two firm and soft pillows on the bed. The comforters are white and the sheets were nice and crisp. The rooms are nicely decorated with subtle colors, a chaiir/ottoman desk, two nightstands, and a 25" flat screen t.v., The bathrooms are tile with a marble shower. The shower has two built in shelves which were nice. The shower head is a large rain shower type of head. The bathrooms have a hair dryer and there was shampoo and conditioner, but no other amenities. The sign said that you could get complimentary toiletries if you forgot them, but did not mention lotion. I think this hotel was designed by men and made for men! Anyway, the breakfast was very basic with yogurt, cinnamon rolls, cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, bread and bagels. They had milk, OJ and coffee as well. There is a small work-out room and an indoor pool. that was filled with kids I would highly recommend this hotel since it is so clean and new. Hopefully, it will stay that way. It is approx. one mile from the Prairie Meadows casino and race track. We ate at a Mexican restaurant in town in a strip center next to Fashion Bug. The hamburger in the enchilads and tacos was very salty, so if you're on a low sodium diet, don't order any beef items. We will definitely stay at ths HIXpress again. Hope this helps!
