The reason I rate this hotel low is that it did not meet my expectations for the Doubletree brand. When we pulled up it looked like a Hampton Inn on steroids or with fancy window dressing. Walking in, other than the Doubletree cookies, it felt like a Hampton Inn. The rooms were just a little bit upgraded when compared to the Hampton Inn brand.
We had problems with the Air and the Flat Screen was scratched. The bathroom would be tight for anyone with more than half a but. The shower was a an inset unit with a double Speakman. They have four smoking rooms in the hotel on the fourth floor. For this reason, we avoided this floor and stayed on the first floor. All the rooms are the same and there are no upgrades. There is no real incentive for a diamond member to stay there.
The breakfast was one up from the Hampton Inn with omelets cooked to order on portable gas burners. The quality of the hot food was enough to be edible.
They serve a dinner at the tiny restaurant similar to what is found at the Hilton Garden Inn. When we walked out, the cook and waitress were slumpped down in chairs watching TV. There are a bunch of great restaurants in walking distance so unless you are just tired and want a burger there, there is no real reason to have to eat there.
With all due respect, the price we paid was much less than the Hampton Inn's in Atlanta and around the same price or less than a few of the Hilton Garden Inn's.
My feeling is they should call it what it is, a Hampton Inn, and save the Doubletree name for a nice hotel. The employees however were doubletree quality.
