“Doubletree Lite”

Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Alpharetta-Windward

2 of 5 stars
Columbus, GA
Jul 16, 2007

The reason I rate this hotel low is that it did not meet my expectations for the Doubletree brand. When we pulled up it looked like a Hampton Inn on steroids or with fancy window dressing. Walking in, other than the Doubletree cookies, it felt like a Hampton Inn. The rooms were just a little bit upgraded when compared to the Hampton Inn brand.

We had problems with the Air and the Flat Screen was scratched. The bathroom would be tight for anyone with more than half a but. The shower was a an inset unit with a double Speakman. They have four smoking rooms in the hotel on the fourth floor. For this reason, we avoided this floor and stayed on the first floor. All the rooms are the same and there are no upgrades. There is no real incentive for a diamond member to stay there.

The breakfast was one up from the Hampton Inn with omelets cooked to order on portable gas burners. The quality of the hot food was enough to be edible.

They serve a dinner at the tiny restaurant similar to what is found at the Hilton Garden Inn. When we walked out, the cook and waitress were slumpped down in chairs watching TV. There are a bunch of great restaurants in walking distance so unless you are just tired and want a burger there, there is no real reason to have to eat there.

With all due respect, the price we paid was much less than the Hampton Inn's in Atlanta and around the same price or less than a few of the Hilton Garden Inn's.

My feeling is they should call it what it is, a Hampton Inn, and save the Doubletree name for a nice hotel. The employees however were doubletree quality.

We booked a group of City leaders into this property for 2 nights/3 days (20 rooms) - The property is beautifully decorated, the rooms are a similar size that you might find in a mid-economy room but the wall-mounted flat screen TVs provide extra space. GREAT breakfast and some of the finest hospitality in the south. On my next trip to Alpharetta - I'll stay nowhere else.

If you search the Internet you might not find much information about this hotel, or you might find it listed as "Sleep Inn" but it's not a Sleep Inn anymore. After millions of dollars spent on making this hotel into a Doubletree Hotel brand, it's one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. I've stayed in hotels from Hollywood, CA to Tampa, FL but never have I been as impressed as I was with this hotel.

From the beautifully furnished rooms to the nice pool. The rooms at the Doubletree are priced at $69-$79 on the weekends due to low business on the weekends, and $139 during the week. There is no better deal than this when visiting on the weekends.

When we checked in we got the great Doubletree cookies made fresh that day, and went straight for our amazing room. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a nicely lit room and great smell. The next thing we noticed was the flat-screen HDTV hanging on the wall. The room also had a stand-up shower, and great bath products.

If you're ever in the Atlanta area, and don't mind a 5-10 drive from the Ashford Dunwood/Perimeter area, please check out this hotel. It's amazing.

“Comfy Room for a Reasonable Rate”

Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Alpharetta-Windward

My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend retreat somewhere outside Atlanta and ended up randomly picking the Doubletree in Alpharetta as our destination. When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room (not to mention the delicious cookies we received at check-in). The bed was incredibly cozy with several pillows and soft down comforter, and faced a flat-screen tv which made movie-watching extremely enjoyable. In addition, the bathroom was clean and had a dual showerhead for intense water pressure. The one complaint I had, however, was the noise level outside of the room during the day. The maids seem to have developed a habit of standing in the halls, talking quite loudly amongst themselves. So, if you are planning on sleeping the day away, this may not be the right place for you. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

“What a nice Surprise!”

Doubletree Hotel Atlanta/Alpharetta-Windward

Ok, so a Doubletree is supposed to be nice. In a major city at least. But in a northern suburb of Atlana, I figured I was lucky to find indoor hallways! Well, what I found was a spectacular example of luxury accommodations, five star service, and incredible value. I will not even look for anything else when I return to this area. Beautifully appointed rooms, even a flat-screen TV. Double shower head, plush towels, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. WELL DONE!
