“Nice & close”

We stayed at the Ramada Maingate at the Park for 6 days the first week of June. At first we we given a room on the first floor right beside a maintenance room, but after requesting a room higher up, we were given a room on the 4th floor. It had a nice view with two queen beds ... more than enough room for me, my daughter & two grandkids. The pool was great, it was difficult getting the grandkids out ... :) The front office was a little tight, and hard to find at first, but the convenience store, pizza place & ice cream parlour onsite were great. The continental breakfast room was small but adequate: several varieties of donuts & pastries, cereal, oatmeal, toast, boiled eggs, fruit & beverages.

Within a couple of minutes, we were through the turnsiles at Disneyland, it was nice not having to take a trolley back to the hotel. (last time here we stayed at the Coast Hotel by the convention centre, now a Sheraton). I would recommend this hotel to families, but I don't know it we would stay again. We really missed a lobby and the aspect of being in a hotel as opposed to a motel that was all over the place. The main reason for booking this motel was for the pool (kid friendly), the closeness to Disneyland, and the fact that there was a fridge & a microwave. A lot of the surrounding motels/hotels did not offer both. We took a trolly down to Target and purchased microwaveable foods to cut down on the eating out.

All-in-all, a wonderful trip and stay.

“Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms and then hit and miss”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

3 of 5 stars
Bloomington, IL
Jul 1, 2008

Stayed at the motel for a conference I attended in late June.

Pros:
* Great location
--> located less than a quarter-mile to an entrance to Disneyland
--> ten minute walk to the Convention Center, Anaheim Garden Walk
--> fifteen walk to Downtown Disney
* friendly staff - everyone I talked to in person or on the phone was very pleasant and helpful
* clean room
* free parking
* free continental breakfast of danishes, donuts, toasts, cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, apple or orange juice, coffee and tea
* free wireless Internet
* microwave and refrigerator in room
* nice pool and jacuzzi
* environmental friendly policy
--> sheets are only changed every three days (changed more or less frequently upon request)
--> hung bath towels were not replaced and needlessly washed (although there wasn't any specific policy noted for this)
* noon check out

Cons:
* television - small (25" CRT), terrible volume control and only 23 channels
* service problems:
--> TV didn't work and we called and waited and waited; finally went to the front desk and they didn't have any record of our service request
--> Pay per view hasn't work during our entire stay (7 days)
* Could hear every move of the guests in the room above ours
* electrical outlets were an adventure - never quite sure if they would work or not

All in all, this is an older property that needs a freshening (new carpet, better A/V, electrical work), but has a great location, friendly staff and a lot of freebies

“It was a disappointment”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

Jun 20, 2008

Though it was just across from Disneyland we were disappointed in the rooms. The photos do not really reflect what it really looks like. The rooms were old and tired looking. When we booked it showed that it was a 3 star hotel. More like a 1 or 2 star hotel. Definately not worth the money we paid to stay there. Only good thing was it was so close to Disneyland.

“beds are bad, breakfast was good”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

3 of 5 stars
arroyo grande ca
Jun 3, 2008

The bed was uncomfortable, the room was a bit stuffy, but it was a perfect location. we paid 91 bucks with a AAA discount for each of the 2 nights we stayed there. ***The breakfast was surprising: it had plenty of peeled hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal (3 selections) , milk, juices, donuts, pastries, oranges, coffee, tea and lots more. This was included in room price. We ate outside by the beautiful (slightly heated) pool. What a delightful poolside. So many palm trees, beautiful. Sparkling cleanwater. The staff was busy cleaning the pool and spa each morning, and the room was actually very clean, although had a leak of some sort that caused the water from the tap to drip onto the feet while brushing teeth or washing face...definately encourages one to conserve water! ;-). One really nice thing was how they had great music playing over the speakers by the pool. Plenty of pool towels available. Nice fellow travellers. Families galore. There is a coffee house type thing ands undries store that sells a great selection fo items, even beer and wines...again great selection ....onsite. It was so much fun for the kids to swim. we felt safe. We left our car in the parking lot all day while at Disneyland. No problems there. Never had to drive at all till we left!
***The only big problem was the beds. Springy, and well, 'toture rack' is how I described it. If you bring a tranquilizer you will be fine.***
There is a fantasticly affordable buffet spot about 5 doors down called ***Captain Kidd's*** ...it was shockingly low priced. Buffett for kids, 4.99, adults like 8.99. They serve buffett 3 meals a day, adn also have a menu that had many good looking items, but we only had buffett cuz we wanted to do a super cheap trip. We were of course starved after disneyland and swimming so it was great. The service there ws great and the buffett had a good array, from hamburgers to ribs to ham to beans and chips ...desserts galore, even frozen yogurt...all included. 4 of us (2 kids, 2 adults) ate and had sodas/ beer for 41 bucks. Tipped well cuz service was great and ***what a bargain***.
enjoy your time, but really, take your sleeping pills with you to this one so you can sleep well enough. the price was so good, it really is hard to complain. hopefully though new mattresses are on the way at that place.

“Easy, Comfortable Stay for Disneyland”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

3 of 5 stars

I selected this hotel based on proximity to Disneyland. It was certainly an easy walk to the main gate for both parks. Our six year old loved the pool. All rooms were close to the pool due to the "U" shaped motel. This configuration provided a feeling of security that I probably wouldn't have felt in a larger more sprawling city property. Yes, it was a little worn and tired, but hey, I just wanted a safe and clean place to sleep as most of our activity was at the parks. Our stay was quiet and uneventful-I like that. Staff were courteous and helpful. We gave the breakfast a miss after the first morning as it really was basically a doughnut and boiled eggs or cereal. The room came with a refrigerator and a microwave. No complaints from me for $88. /night.
