Just got back from a 5 night stay at the Disneyland Hotel. I found it to be no better than a run down Holiday Inn with Disney decor and a good location. The room was clean be very small and I could hear everything from the room next door. Our room had a suite door that was not sound proof at all. I could hear everything...

Positive: Clean, good location
Negative: Loud, rundown, very crowded pool, elevators smelled

Would not stay here again

“This was a good experience”

I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel once as a child and have great memories of it. I wanted to give my kids the same experience, so we decided to stay 2 nights on our recent trip to California.

As a family of 6 our options were surprisingly limited. I'd have thought Disney would have more options available to larger families, but not so. We looked into connecting rooms, but decided against that request when we were told they could book 2 rooms for us, but could not guarantee they would in fact be connecting or even be in the same tower. Not so good. We ended up booking a Regal Suite, which was phenomenally expensive for both the size and the condition of the room, but it worked well for us.

We had an 11th floor view of the Neverland Pool, which we enjoyed. The suite itself is really a one bedroom suite. The living area has a half-bath, a wet bar with sink and mini-fridge, and a pull-out couch for a bed. The bedroom contained a full bath, plus two queen size beds. We put our boys in the pull out couch, which sagged like crazy in the middle of a very thin mattress. The good news is that they were dog tired at the end of each day and didn't complain about the bed at all. It wasn't terribly convenient having kids sleeping in the living room, however.

The beds in the bedroom were comfortable with nice bedding. We enjoyed all the kitschy Disney touches ~ Mouse hands holding the bathroom sconces, the castles carved into the headboards, the subtle Disney character wallpaper, the Disney princesses telling bedtime stories on the tv and even the Mickey Mouse shampoo.

We paid for access to the concierge lounge, which was a great purchase. Would definitely recommend that for a family the size of ours. We ate breakfast there each morning, lunch there once, snacks in the evening every night, checked out movies one night, loaded up on waters, sodas and snacks for our room, and watched the fireworks over the park the last night while eating brownies and other desserts. It was well worth it.

When I was a kid the monorail let you off right at the entrance to the hotel, so I was a bit reluctant about the change of having to walk through Downtown Disney to the monorail station. I was pleasantly surprised, though. The walk is short and easy ~ not a big deal. Having the ability to access the room easily from the Tomorrowland Monorail station was fabulous. That easy access and the concierge lounge are worth the price of the hotel to me.

It was a great experience. The hotel is a bit tired, I'll admit. The carpet could really use an update and the decorating hasn't been done in awhile, I'd guess. The service is always with a smile, though, and they were very accomodating about storing our bags both before and after check-in, plus allowing access to the pool until closing on the day we checked out.

The kids loved the experience and overall I'm very glad we did it.

This hotel was AMAZING!! We stayed there for my son's first birthday. When we walked in to check in, the girl was extremely friendly and my son even got a little birthday package with a button that said "It's my Birthday!!" They upgraded our room, the reason is unknown, but we were put in a main room with double beds with an ajoining princess room. Both rooms were spotless. We were overlooking the pool. When the bell hop brought our luggage up to our room, he was more than accommodating. He let us know what time things opened, which route to take to get to the park, and what the best things to do was. If you have the means to stay at this hotel, it is hightly recommended!

I have been waiting to write this review since I stepped foot in the hotel.
I originally had reservations at a good neighbor hotel but decided since it was my daughters birthday why not have the whole disney experience by staying at the Disney Hotel. I mean at $300 a night we are bound to have an awesome experience. When I made reservations they said they would "make magic for 3 of us who were going down to celebrate our birthdays. When we arrived the main entrance was gorgeous. We did the valet parking since the self parking was ridiculously far from the entrance. They have a strict rule about not getting you in your room until 3:00. Again in 100 degree tempeture and not being able to get our room we think lets check out the grounds. The pool is cute but only 3ft and 4 ft deep definitely kid friendly. Oh and the proximity to Downtown Disney is the best. It's just a few yards away. So we finally reach 3:00 and I'm so excited about seeing my room!!! We were given the wonder tower because it was about another $500 just to see a view of Downtown Disney or the parks or even the pool. We figured no reason to spend that kind of money for a view. I get to the room and open the door and immediately my jaw hit the ground! What a huge disappointment. There was 2 queen beds in one room a bathroom, a small area where there was a sink and very old tattered closet. Oh my god! The furniture was old and worn as well as the carpet. Oh and did I mention the small hole above the shower which completely freaked me out. I reserved 2 rooms and in my room a shirt was on the balcony and in the other room there was trash under the bed!!! The lighting in the room was horrible very dim. There are no microwaves, one tv which in one room had a bad picture very grainy. OH and the products they give you are very generic. The shampoo, conditioner and lotions. My daughter said the lotion smelled of public restroom. Then I called and let the lead at the front know my experience and how disappointed I was and she said Thanks for sharing and that was it. Nothing, and it just got worse we decided to self park our car since the Wonder Tower which we were in was far from the front lobby. When we moved our cars the day we arrived we found much better parking near our room. We had previously tried to ask the person in the toll booth as you drive into the hotel property but she was sooooo rude we just drove through. The room service was bad just not worth the price after 11:00 p.m. they are on a limited menu even though the park closes at 12:00 a.m. and most people return to there room all we could get were burgers and sandwiches at about $15.00 each. You are kind of trapped you have to leave and go to a store on harbor blvd if you want to get any kind of necessity and not pay an arm and a leg. I Love Disney and I tried not to let this experience ruin my going back I will never stay at the DISNEY HOTEL again. We normally stay at the Embassy suites south and we love it there so much more to offer and nice rooms not run down and old. You pay for the proximity to the park at the Disney Hotel and that was about it. If you don't care for quality or more bang for your buck then this place is for you we will stay somewhere else and never at this hotel again!!! Oh and one more thing that move from valet to self parking we were charged for that and when I called to get the credit I was told you needed to tell the cashier not the valet. Well the valet never told us to tell anyone for the adjustment. Hey it was only 34.00 dollars but I didn't care I fought for it they didn't deserve one more penny from us. I got the credit. yey me! We never got the birthday magic they told us we'd get and I figured out why they call it the Wonder Hotel-- You "Wonder" why the hell am I paying $300 a night to stay here!

The stay at the Disneyland hotel was ok. We won the trip last year, and could finally take it in june. We got there about 8am and they told us to call around 2 to see if the room was ready, called and they told us not until after 3 so we went back about 3:15ish and they told us not until 4, got in our room Very cute with lots of disney touches. went to the pool to swim with our 16mo old and the pool was great love the neverland theme, when we got back to our room, went to take a shower and saw a black type mold in the shower and on the wall, alittle worried about that did tell them when we checked out. also the water knobs were very touchy it was either hot or cold no middle to it. we thought about paying to stay a extra night which would have cost us $234 but glad we didn't we have stayed at other hotels that were nicer and just as far from the park paying $80 so unless you are sharing the cost with someone or you win it I would save my money for the park.
