“Once-fancy, huge hotel in the middle of a facelift.”

Hilton Anaheim

Jul 17, 2008

I recenty stayed at this property for one night on a Disneyland vacation. This hotel was pretty impressive from the outside and the proximity to Disney was superb! It is about a 15 min walk to the front gate.

Once inside however, the real deal is more apparent. This hotel was in the middle of a major rennovation! A temporary check-in counter had been erected off to the side and a large portion of the lobby was walled off. I was a little surprised since their staff had told me over the phone that the constuction was complete. Even with all the remodeling going on, this is still a beautiful hotel.

Our room accommodations were sub-par for a Hilton and the 'Lanai Floor' room with balcony we paid extra for turned out to just be a ground level room with a huge sliding glass door out to the pool area. This was somewhat less romantic than I had been expecting!

Overall this hotel is pretty nice and I suspect will be fantastic once the remodeling is done but in the meantime provides only marginal comfort from a luxury hotel chain that usually does so much more.

PLUSES:
+really fancy lobby
+good location to Disneyland

MINUSES:
+rooms not that nice
+Lanai balcony rooms misleading

“EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE”

Hilton Anaheim

Jul 17, 2008

We have just returned from 16 nights holiday had such a great time. Room was great very clean was one of the newly renovated ones which we could not fault at all .Everything we asked for via email to the Hilton we received with much THANKS to Dominic Riedinger for all your help. All staff was very helpful and polite, Hotel in genral was very clean . The Hilton is in a very good spot for people visiting Disney and is close to many excellent restaurants and in walking distance, really could not fault a thing even with the renovation work going on, bar the parking charge of $15.00 a day for hotel guests which seems a lot. The swimming pool and hot tubs was really nice and the area which surrounded it.
AS ARNIE WOULD SAY I WILL BE BACK .........

“Could have been better”

Hilton Anaheim

First let me say I love the Hilton brand hotels. I normally prefer them over others for business trips. This trip, we used the Hilton as a staging point for Disneyland. Not a wise choice. Hilton is a business centric hotel and the family ammenities are weak. We literally had a single 2-gallon trash can, in the bathroom, as our only source of refuse disposal. No mini-bar, no fridge (which we needed to store medicine), and construction all around. OK if you're on business...unbearable if you're a family using this place as a staging area. It is relatively close for a walk to Disney which is good. The ART shuttle stops in front of the hotel every 20 minutes for the quick 5 minute ride to the park. Beware!! From 12-1:00pm, ART takes a break and they have a stand-in bus service that nobody is informed of. You're used to these nice red trolleys every 20 minutes to show up in the midst of all the charter buses, and between 12-1 they're not there.

Due to the construction (which we were not informed of), the elevators were jammed full of people. We literally had to wait in line, sometimes for 10 minutes just to get a lift. I'm a Silver member and had to ask if there was even an Honors Lounge. Turns out there was...would have been of the staff to inform me of that on check-in. Again, not too bad for business travelers, and every now and then a hotel needs a facelift, but at least warn us. For families though, search for more family-friendly hotels in the immediate area first.

“Pleasantly Suprised”

I have stayed in the Anaheim Hilton in the past and have been somewhat dissapointed in the quality of the rooms. So much so that I avoiding booking my business stays there. This last visit in June 2008 I was pleasantly suprised in the renovations that were going on at the Hotel. This last trip in June 2008 was an awsome experience. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful but not overbearing, the valet service team was extremely helpful, room check-in was smooth and the renovated room was fabulous. I would say a 180 degree change from the last time I stayed there last year. There was still a little construction noise from the refurbishing going on but not during sleep hours. It appeared as though the noise was only audible during the day.
I will definately rebook the Anaheim Hilton on my next visit to Anaheim......

“Very Happy at the Hilton”

We booked our last minute trip to Disneyland a week out - 2 adults, 2 primary age children. After reading prior TripAdvisor reviews, we requested a reno'd room, on the 5th (pool) floor, facing Disney - all of which we received! Although the view wasn't that great (not a huge deal) - just the top of the Matterhorn - the room was very clean and suitable for a family of four. Duvets on beds and good sheets/pillows. Pool was great - not super fancy but enough to cool down and go back to Disney for the evening. What we were most pleased with was the close proximity to Disney. Not more than a 5-8 minute walk out the back, across the convention centre grounds, cross Katella and hop on the (free) Timon parking lot tram which came every 5 minutes. Much better than waiting for the Anaheim tram and definitely doable with a 7 and a 4 year old at the end of the night after the fireworks. Found staff to be very courteous and accommodating. We did have an issue in the wee hours of the night on our 1st night with the air conditioner dripping onto the bathroom floor and was dealt with promptly and effectively - no sleep lost! Starbucks in the lobby was a bonus. Ate in the restaurant on our last morning for breakfast - getting coffee was a little slow - but they were definitely slammed - however food was fast and very good. Will definitely stay again.
