This is a nice hotel, within a long walk or transit, to Disneyland. The studio room was very clean, mid-sized, including a very comfortable bed and bedding, large bathroom, in-room refrigerator, desk and television. The lobby is very nice, the staff were friendly and check in was quick. As with previous guests, I feel there is no need to charge for parking ($11) though parking was simple through card access. There is no guest parking that is without charge (this seemed to be true for other hotels...everyone charges and the only way for this to be waived is to have a drink or meal at the hotel). I am, however, especially upset at paying a $6.00 resort fee per day (+ tax) at the Doubletree. The hotel pool is extremely small. There are no umbrellas by the lounge chairs (only by the round tables). While it is convenient to have towels provided right there, and a drinking fountain and washrooms, it is unimpressive and takes one or two families with children to completely fill the pool. There is no justification whatsoever for charging a resort fee...unless it is also for the "free" internet access in a room off the lobby. Again, a nice feature but something we have come to expect. Nothing is free when these additional costs are added (I do not recall this being disclosed in advance). I will be writing to Hilton (as this is a Hilton property). There are many places to stay in and around Disney. I am not sure why this is rated as #1, though I do not dispute that it is a nice hotel with fairly priced rooms. The hotel pool at The Hotel Menage was far superior but again, there are a lack of umbrellas. Given health considerations, I find this very surprising. Will consider other alternatives next time, comparing all features side by side as well as fees.
