“Hidden treasure at a reasonable price”

Hotel Pepper Tree

4 of 5 stars
Washington State
Jun 29, 2008

The Hotel Pepper Tree is a hidden treasure in the Disneyland area. The rooms are HUGE and the price is more than reasonable.

Our room had a king bed, writing desk, couch, chair and coffee table with plenty of room to spare. The small kitchen area was well equiped with what ever we needed. The bathroom was next to a dressing area with a dresser and full size closet with full length mirrors.

The front desk staff could have been more friendly but they checked us in without a problem and were very professional.

The cleaning staff was great. Our room was vacuumed daily, dirty linens replaced and dishes washed.

It's a relaxing small hotel for people who want to get away from the Mouse for a while.

“wouldn't go back”

Hotel Pepper Tree

1 of 5 stars
Gilbert, AZ
Jun 28, 2008

This is really a slightly updated motel. The room was very large with two queen beds. We checked in and went straight to Disney after unloading all the luggage. I was a bit taken aback at the sketchy neighborhood and the hotel itself after reading the glowing reviews on tripadvisor and other websites. It was very reasonably priced and had a kitchenette, so I was willing to overlook that the place was a bit tired. My one year old was quite dirty after crawling around the room for about 10 minutes. The two year old stuck her hand in the wall heater and got a little burn. Oh well, remember it's cheap. We got back to the room about 1 am and as I was making a bottle for the baby in the kitchen I saw a cockroach. That was it. After a sleepless night filled with dreams of roaches crawling on my kids we checked out the next morning at 6 am and went to another hotel that cost about $30 more but it was clean and had a shuttle to the park. We didn't even try the breakfast. The girl at the front desk didnt seem surprised to hear about the cockroach problem and she couldn't do anything for us because the manager was on vacation for the week. I wasn't expecting perfection, but clean and without roaches seems reasonable.

“Loved the Pepper Tree”

Hotel Pepper Tree

4 of 5 stars
Tasmania
Jun 5, 2008

Our family of 5 stayed at the Hotel Pepper Tree recently and I must say that it lived up to the good reviews I had read on Trip Advisor.
The property is well priced and this was a big consideration for us as we had 5 people to feed and entertain. The room(s) were huge, we had a family room that comfortably slept 3 adults and 2 teenagers. The family room was actually 2 adjoining rooms so we had a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms and 2 verandahs.
We liked the fact that there was a restaurant right at the front door and just over the road there was a well stocked supermarket and a laundrette open until late.
Staff at reception were terrific, helpful with everything from advice on theme parks to the best way to get to Las Vegas. Manny is a legend, a great person to have at reception, always eager to assist and made us all feel welcome especially our eldest son who arrived from Australia several hours ahead of us. The staff made sure that he was comfortable and he was able to use the pool even though it wasn't quite check-in time.
The hotel even has free internet access in the lobby which was a treat after paying a small fortune for access in the UK.
It cost us about $10.00 USD for a taxi to Knott's Berry Farm and about $14.00 USD for a taxi to Disneyland. It probably would have been nice to have been closer to Disneyland but I doubt we would have had better value for money.

“Adequate but no more”

Hotel Pepper Tree

2 of 5 stars
Glendale, AZ
Jun 4, 2008

This is an old hotel, but most hotels near and around Disneyland are older. It was fairly clean, but the cleaning staff is seriously lacking.
Upon arrival we found dirty linens on the floor of our closet. When they were not removed the next day, I notified the front desk. Our room was not vacuumed at all during our 5 day stay, although I did request vacuuming after noticing it had not been done for 2 days. On the 2nd day they didn't even bother to clean the tub. The toilet was in need of bowl cleaner, as it was developing some mold. We had 3 rooms for our family group and one of the rooms smelled of cigarette smoke upon our return from Disneyland one evening.
The breakfast at the adjoining restaurant was minimal as to selection. We only ate there one morning. I selected a doughnut which was ice cold, but there was no microwave available. The wait staff did comply with my request to heat it up.
The only elevator in the place also was out of service for an entire day. Fortunately, it broke down after we had brought our luggage in. Again, this is a risk in an older hotel.
We stayed at this hotel despite it being a distance from Disneyland, and without shuttle service, because we hoped there would be benefits that would offset those two negatives. There were no benefits.

“Completely satisfied”

Hotel Pepper Tree

4 of 5 stars
Raleigh, NC
May 13, 2008

If you're doing Disney, stay here -- you can't beat it. We paid $80/weekdays and around $109/weekend night and we were far happier than we'd have been in a hotel "next to Disneyland." It was clean, stylish, close to the parks, and the staff was tremendously friendly all around. This place is just a tiny bit (2 exits?) up I-5 from DL/CA, and you can get in and out of the parks far more quickly than people staying on the strip without having to walk 1-2 miles around DL's fence in the hot sun. The kitchenette was very helpful to have, the pool and lobby computer were readily available, and with Ralph's and Target nearby, you need little else. Comments about the noise and cleanliness were noted prior to the trip, but I saw nothing that was a real problem with either. Thank you, Pepper Tree, for making a long trip great!
