This was our 2nd stay at the Staybridge Suites in just over a year, so we knew what to expect. Last year we made do with a one bedroom suite, but none of our three kids would share a bed so one of them ended up sleeping on the floor. This year we opted for a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms. This time we had plenty of space with beds for everyone (and having the two bathrooms was nice). A very comfortable apartment-like accomodation made for a restful place to recharge our batteries after a busy day at Disneyland. The three TVs in the suite meant no fighting over what to watch! The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils, bowls and pots, etc. A coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, full refrigerator, stove top (no oven), and a table and chairs (for 4 only). The buffet breakfasts each morning with fresh fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, bacon, sausage, and make-your-own waffle machines, croissants, danishes, etc. was appreciated. Yes, it was busy at times with line ups but not for the full duration of the three hour breakfast service. The staff don't seem to mind if you take the food to your rooms - we often packed some of the fruit and made peanut butter sandwiches up in our suite (all from the breakfast buffet) to take with us to the park. The T-W-T evening manager's reception, with BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs on the Wednesday, were appreciated as well with complimentary wine, beer and pop.
Staff at the front desk seemed friendly and accomodating enough. But other than check in and out, and purchasing our ART tickets we didn't use their services much.
Local calls from the suites are free and they have a couple of PCs with free internet access downstairs in the lobby area.
The pool and spa were nice, although they seemed to run out of clean towels at the pool often and we found ourselves waiting around for some for quite awhile.
The free 24 hour laundry room facilities were appreciated too (pack your own detergent). If you need to workout they have a few modest pieces of equipment in an adjacent room.
The halls were frequently left with dirty food trays, garbage and linens - seems they have difficulty getting enough staff to clean, or perhaps thats just not important for them. Its true they don't clean floors and bathrooms daily in the suites. They will come in and make the beds, empty the garbage and replace dirty towels with clean towels. But one day they forgot to do our room. We made do as we still had sufficient clean towels and we got back so late from Disneyland we were too tired to complain. I suppose this hotel places a higher priority on feeding guests than cleaning their rooms (hey, nobody cleans my house at home daily either!).
The ART shuttle is a convenient service that takes you from the hotel to Disneyland. Its $3 for a daily pass, or you can buy a 5 day pass for $12, with unlimited rides during each day. Children 9 and under are free with a paying adult. We were there during a very busy spring break and heard other people complain about long waits to get the shuttle - fortunately the longest we ever waited was about 20 minutes.
If you're looking for a comfortable and affordable family hotel, you can't go wrong staying here. Just lighten up a bit on your cleanliness expectations and you won't be disappointed. But if you want to be pampered with services and luxury then look elsewhere!
