“So SWEET!!”

Candy Cane Inn

My husband and I stayed there from July 3-6th. The room was very clean and towels were so soft!! We were able to park our car very close to our room. Having the shuttle take you to disneyland and pick you up was very nice. We never had to wait very long. Office staff was friendly and always willing to help out, even with printing our airlines boarding passes. Morning breakfast was nice [jucies and muffins, toast, fruit etc.] We met many other couples staying at Candycane Inn, they were so impressed with the hotel as we were... We have stayed at many hotels around disneyland. But from the first time we tried Candycane Inn we decided to ONLY stay there. It is the BEST.
Note: the hotel has a gift shop where you can purchase snacks, juices and much more for a good price.

You can not beat the location or the price. The hotel is very lovely and I felt that it was an excellent value. Even provides wonderful landscaping all within walking distance of the Disneyland Resort. We stayed one night and moved to Grand Californian for several days based on years of Disney World experiences - staying at a Disney hotel is an entirely different experience in Florida. This was a mistake and waste of money. We should have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for our entire trip!

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for 6 nights in early July. This was our second stay, having stayed here two years ago. Despite travel all over Los Angeles during our stay we chose to spend all six nights in this hotel because it is so clean, safe and beautiful. You are staying in a clean flower garden. The walk to Disneyland is only 10 minutes (if that) and there is a shuttle. The breakfast is wonderful, and the staff are friendly. The rooms are well maintained as is all of the property. I will return here again just as soon as possible. The other traveler photos are accurate. There is a nice souvenir/convenience shop next door, a grocery store about a mile away and a Subway across the street. We watched fireworks from our balcony. The only downside is that the internet is not very powerful in the rooms, but worked on the balcony.

“A letter to CCI, premium vs deluxe rooms and more”

Candy Cane Inn

Jul 9, 2008

Earlier this year we stayed (once again) at the CCI for our annual trip to DL. This time we decided to splurge and book a premium room which included some additional amenities. We had 2 adjoining rooms on the second floor at the back of the property.

Things I like about our stay in the premium room:
-It was slightly larger then a deluxe or standard room.
-Free video check-out. You can help yourself to a bookcase of available movies in the lobby.
-Delivered breakfast.

Things I didn't like:
-We were ALLLLL the way in the back of the property. Between 2 families we had 4 toddlers and it would have been nicer to be towards the front of the hotel, closer to the shuttle. BTW, if I would have mentioned this earlier they probably would have accomodated our request. Staff

-Although it was fun and convenient to have the breakfast delivered.......PLEASE CCI improve the menu. It's all starch/carbs of mediocre quality. It would have been nice to see more fresh fruit (cantaloupe, strawberries) and maybe some cheese wedges or slices (like those individually packaged ones that come in cheddar, swiss etc), how about some boiled eggs, ham and cheese croissants instead of just regular? Maybe you can send someone out by the pool to cook up some mickey mouse pancakes on a griddle. My kids would be over the moon. And can't there be a breakfast bonus for booking the much more expensive premium rooms. Like a small basket of bakery quality goodies (specialty breads and spreads).

I look at it like this though. Tourists are flocking to the shiny, new, big hotels. CCI can't really become shiny, big, and new......BUT CCI can become known as the quaint family owned motel with a darn good breakfast.

Ok, back to the room. Would I choose a premium room next time? Probably not. At the end of the day for us the amenities just didn't make up for the additional cost.

Bottomline......
Do I plan to stay at the CCI again? Maybe. Really it comes down to the food. It's very tempting to go somewhere a bit further that offers better breakfast options in addition to seperate sleeping and living quarters.

For the most part though, I am one of those reviewers that loves CCI for what it is....a charming, above average motel close to the park. CCI.....If you could just meet me 1/2 way on the food, I'd be a fan forever.

“dissapointed with candy cane”

Candy Cane Inn

I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and it wasn't what i expected from what i read about. I was dissapointed because the staff seemed to be very rude and disrespectful when confronted with issues i had there.
The pool they talk about is very small and when you get 10 people in it thats when you feel very cramped. They say they have 2 pools (1 regular and 1 Kids)...The kids pool is no bigger than a hot tub and they regular pool for size of complex is way to small.

The shower seemed to have issues, but thats probably because of age of unit.

They have a continental breakfast they serve but thats overrateed also as its just about bagels, muffins, fruit and watered down coffee with not a whole lot of room to sit.

Only positive thing i felt was good is its about a 5-8min walk to Disneyland entrance, but their shuttle stops at 8pm so if you stay at park past 8pm you will find yourself walking back after walking around all day.

I will defintely stay somewhere else next time with better customer service and the amenities i expect when traveling.

Management Response
Jeff Holl, General Manager
(Management representative)
Jul 16, 2008
First and foremost I thank you for staying with us and sincerely apologize that your stay was less than to your expectations. I am most distressed that you felt that your comments were not received in a professional & caring manner when you approached our staff members during your stay. I would be delighted to personally speak with you regarding any of our team members, as this is totally unacceptable.

While our pool area may have appeared to be cramped, we have a 32X26 ft pool that ranges from 3 1/2 to 5 ft deep, a 9ft round spa that is 3 ½ ft deep and a child’s wading pool that is 12 ft round and 1 ½ ft deep., with ample areas around for chaise lounges, table and chairs.

Though our breakfast was not what you expected, I would like to inject that our expanded continental breakfast consists of 3 fresh fruits, 3 cold cereals, variety of hot oatmeal’s, muffins, bagels, donuts, pastries, croissants, toast, coffee, decaf, tea, hot chocolate, milk, apple and orange juices. And though the garden room has limited seating we encourage guests to dine poolside while enjoying the garden atmosphere and serenity.

In regards to our shuttle service, we offer our exclusive complimentary shuttle that operates from 30 minutes prior to the park opening and continuing until 45 minutes after the park closes at night. The shuttle departs on the hour and the half from the hotel and returns on the 15 and 45 from the park. The only time our shuttle does not operate is the 8pm departure from the hotel and 815pm return from the park allowing the evening driver to enjoy his dinner. These hours are posted at the hotels shuttle stop and at our front desk, and we strive to exceed guest’s happiness and certainly appreciate your feedback so we may improve future guest’s experience.
