I recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim over the holiday weekend. The property is an easy ten minute walk to the main entrance of Disneyland. The convenient location (to both the theme parks and Anaheim Gardenwalk restaurants) and the resort view were the primary reasons I selected this property. I reserved a resort view room and checked into a dual queen unit on the ninth floor (highest floor available). From my room, the fireworks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were easily visible and well worth the expense for my young children to see the display without having to brave the crowds and late night at the park. I should mention that the noise of the pyrotechnics is very loud (even in the room) and may startle younger children. I didn’t have too much of an issue with folks from the other side of the building (less expensive freeway facing units) walking over and blocking the view out of my window when viewing the show. They were there, but had the decency to stay out of my sightlines. As I was farthest from the elevator, I did not have to deal with issues relating to folks passing by on the way to other rooms. Be aware, though, that this is an all exterior corridor access property. Parking was personally not a problem, since we walked to the park, but on Saturday night, security was having guests park along the driveway in the fire lane as the property was completely booked. The room itself was an oversized motel room. Certainly not new, but nothing I would consider rundown. Even with the two queens, the single pullout sleeper, and furniture, there was room for our crib, dual stroller and luggage without tripping over one another. I found the bathroom on the small side. Wireless internet connection worked well. Electrical outlets, however, were not conveniently placed. Towels were thin and less than satisfactory; toiletries, T.P. and tissue were cheap commercial grade products. Beds were standard Marriott fare, comfortable and no complaints. The in room fridge came in handy, and there were also vending, ice, and laundry facilities on each floor. There was a microwave available for guest use on the third floor, near the coffee, snack, and pizza shops. Housekeeping was effective. Elevator wait times were near non-existent. I did not notice much noise from the neighboring room though noise from car alarms going off could be heard. Check in/out were a breeze, and they had plenty of luggage carts available for guest use. As the weather was damp and cold, we did not experience the small pool area. I similarly avoided the onsite restaurant, as there are some great eateries at the new Anaheim Gardenwalk complex about a block (or two, depending where you’re from) away on Katella and Clementine. Dining choices include the Cheesecake Factory, Bubba Gump, California Pizza Kitchen, McCormick & Schmicks, and Roy’s. It’s only a five minute drive (the parking garage is off of Katella). I would likely return to this conveniently located property.
