“Spend Your Money Elsewhere!”

Jurys Normandy Inn

After reading the reviews and the reasonable price for the hotel....I thought all was good! However, the problems started even before we entered the hotel.

My husband and I traveled from TX. Here in TX we drive fairly large trucks! So the street this hotel is on is extremely small. This caused a probelm right away with another vehicle that was coming down the street as well. The other driver got very angry with my husband, cursing him etc.. Then I had to call the hotel to find out where to park, our fairly large truck. The hotel tells us, below the garge in the front of the hotel. Well, once we get to this location the hotel manges to tell us the truck won't fit.

So long story short, we had to park at another hotel a few blocks away. You think your getting a good deal on the hotel, but parking is $28 a day. The hotel rooms are extremely small, the carpets were very damp?, Someone was smoking nearby so our room smelled of smoke, contential breakfast, which includes cereal, and danishes is $9!! One night I was a litte hungry, so we called front desk to find the vending machine. The front desk told us there was a 7-11 two blocks from the hotel!! No vending machines!

We were supposed to stay here three nights we cut our stay short it was very unpleasant! I would have rathered spent more money staying somewhere else that was bigger, more convenient, and accessable!!

“Great location and price”

Jurys Normandy Inn

4 of 5 stars

A little jewel of a hotel near Dupont Circle. Free wifi, helpful front desk, decent, clean room. The last time I stayed in DC I was in an overpriced, chaotic 4* which was totally clueless. This hotel was a fifth of the price, the room was nicer, the staff were better and the location was great.

The only downside was the aircon, which was extremely noisy and rattling. But if you leave it on all day and switch it off at night you're fine.

Highly recommended. I'll definitely stay here the next time I go to DC.

“Good Hotel”

Jurys Normandy Inn

Four of us stayed at Jurys Normandy Inn on 27 April 2008. This was our first time in DC and we weren't sure about the area but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is easy to find from the Metro but it is about six blocks away and you have to climb a steep hill. The hotel is on Wyoming Ave. next door to the Senegal Embassy. The area is quite nice. There are lots of restaurants and some funky shops. We arrived around noon on a Sunday and there was a farmer's market right off the Metro. We had lunch at Woodley's, a neighborhood bar which was about six blocks north near the zoo, and we had dinner at Odeon's, an Italian restaurant about four blocks south of the hotel. Both were very good. Prices reasonable.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

“A Charming Hotel”

Jurys Normandy Inn

5 of 5 stars
New Jersey
May 17, 2008

I stayed at Jurys Normandy Inn for an extended business trip. This charming little hotel filled the bill in many ways. It was very reasonably priced, had a great location, excellent accommodations and amenities, friendly and helpful staff! Add to that the ambiance and hospitality of a European small hotel! The room was smaller than can be expected from the traditional larger hotel, and it does not have all the built in amenities on site - the health club is off site for example. All of the other aspects outweigh that for me. Guests do have free and 24 hour access to a health club at the nearby Courtyard by Marriott. Given that the hotel is located in walking distance to hundreds of restaurants in Adam Morgan and Dupont Circle - not having an on-site restaurant was not an issue. A tasty continental breakfast is available each morning for a nominal cost. Coffee, tea and cookies are available free for guests from 10AM -10PM - a nice touch. There are lovely sitting areas located throughout the main floor and a quaint courtyard with a fountain at the entrance and another off the sitting room. All in all a great experience and I look forward to staying there again.

“A tale of 2 rooms”

Jurys Normandy Inn

4 of 5 stars
Dublin, Ireland

Arrived just before midnight to Jurys Normandy for the start of our 3 night stay and were told the only room available for myself and my wife had 2 beds. We took the room, it was small and tight with the 2 single beds. The room was dated and need of refurbishment but was clean. To be honest, for just under $300 we were paying per night it was very much a disappointment.

The next morning, we went to reception to ask for a room with one bed. This was facilitated with no problem. The room we were given was the same size but had been very recently refurbished. It had a large king bed which was very comfortable. Flat screen tv. Superb aircon. The decor was bright and airy and the bathroom was amazing with a 4 head shower/wet room. The only downside was the view was of the back alley of the hotel but this was minor. This room felt alot more in keeping with the price we were paying and was consistent with the standard of Jurys Boston which I am more familar with.

So my only piece of advice is if you book this hotel request a renovated room.

The hotel itself is in the embassy area of DC, nice quiet residential area. 10 mins walk from Dupont Circle with its restaurants and metro downtown to the great city of DC.

I would recommend the Kramerbrooks bookshop at Dupont for breakfast, especially at their outdoor seating out the back.

The only negative point of DC was the inconsistent taxi charging by zone, but I heard a police officer saying that this was due to change to meter shortly.

Overall DC was a great city to visit and this hotel is in a good location for that visit and the hotel's renovated room was excellent.
